Every time lullaboy visits the Philippines, the crowd gets a little bigger.When the Indonesian-Singaporean artist – whose real name is Bernard Dinata – played Manila on July 17 for his &quot;hotels and heartbreaks&quot; tour, he filled the Teatrino at Promenade in Greenhills, San Juan, a clear sign that his fanbase here is growing and that more and more Filipinos are finding themselves in his music. The night itself was everything his Filipino fans have come to expect – intimate, personal, generous, and memorable.He performed unreleased tracks, got the crowd involved, and even threw in a snippet of Sunkissed Lola&#x27;s &quot;Pasilyo,&quot; a moment that sent the audience into a frenzy.Before taking the stage, he sat down with <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">PUSH ABS-CBN</a> to talk about his songs, his friendship with Zack Tabudlo, and what keeps bringing him back to the Philippines.On where all the hugot comes from, lullaboy gave an answer that his Filipino fans will appreciate.&quot;Maybe in a past life, I was Filipino, you know, because I&#x27;m a super sentimental, emotional person. I love yearning as well. And maybe that&#x27;s why every time I&#x27;m here, I always feel such a connection to this country. And yeah, my songs have always been about yearning from the beginning. They were from my inner child, you know, everything that my inner child wanted to say,&quot; he said. &quot;And yeah, I hope that even today, the fans can kind of see their inner children through my songs too,&quot; he added.He has already performed here officially twice before this latest tour – once at a music festival and once for his &quot;coming-home tour&quot; last January. It was at that first festival appearance that he shared the stage with Zack Tabudlo and Dermot Kennedy. &quot;So I&#x27;ve been to the Philippines a few times. I&#x27;ve only performed here officially two times. One was at this kind of music festival kind of thing. And I think Zack Tabudlo was there, Dermot Kennedy was there. Yeah, it was quite a cool event. And then I did my concert last January. It was a coming-home tour,&quot; he said.His closeness with Zack, however, goes beyond sharing a stage. The two have been friends for some time, having been on the same label, and their bond has carried over into real life. When Zack visited Singapore, lullaboy took it upon himself to show him around. &quot;Yeah, we&#x27;re friends. He&#x27;s been to my studio. We&#x27;ve gone to perform together on the same stage a couple of times. We were on the same label,&quot; he said. &quot;So when he came to Singapore, I had to, like, be his tour guide, you know – to really show him around Singapore, try some different foods. It was really fun,&quot; he added.lullaboy also did not hide how much he thinks of his friend. &quot;I love Zack. He&#x27;s a great guy. In Singapore, he came to my house, and we bonded about music and life. And he&#x27;s someone whose music I love very much, and I wish him all the best,&quot; he said. Among his favorite Zack tracks is &quot;Give Me Your Forever,&quot; which has surpassed 272 million streams on Spotify.lullaboy has also built a track record of notable collaborations, having worked with K-Pop artists including JUNNY and JAY-B of GOT7. He said more are coming – though he is keeping the details a secret for now. &quot;There are some secret ones that I can&#x27;t say in public yet,&quot; he said. The one that meant the most to him, however, was the song he made with JUNNY during a trip to Korea. &quot;The one collaboration that really meant a lot to me was with my friend from Korea — his name is JUNNY, and he is someone whose music I really loved a lot. And when I went to Korea, I had a chance to do this collaboration with him. And now we have a song together called &#x27;Solo.&#x27; And I think that introduced a lot of people to my music, and yeah, it&#x27;s a collaboration I hold dear to my heart,&quot; he said.He closed the interview the way he always seems to – with genuine warmth for the people who have stuck by him.&quot;I love you guys so much. I&#x27;ve been doing music now for a long time, and you know, it&#x27;s such an up-and-down journey, really being a musician in this world, in this day and age. There are so many amazing, incredible artists out there that sometimes I don&#x27;t feel like I&#x27;m nearly as good as them. But still, some fans are just my day ones who just give me so much love and support. I wouldn&#x27;t be here without these fans,&quot; he said. &quot;I hope I can make you guys proud, and that one day it will be so big, and we&#x27;ll get to touch the whole world, you know, and we&#x27;ll do it together. Thank you so much,&quot; he added.
