Kim Chiu highlighted the importance of Filipinos continuing to help one another as she welcomed a P500,000 donation to the ABS-CBN Foundation International to support communities affected by recent calamities.The actress and television host said she was grateful that one of her longtime endorsement partners took the initiative to extend assistance, especially as many Filipinos continue to face economic challenges and recover from severe flooding.“I’m very grateful, of course, to them for taking this initiative na mag-donate. Kasi lalo na sa ekonomiya natin ngayon, ang hirap talaga,” Chiu said.“Nakaranas tayo ng matinding pagbaha, matinding hirap &#x27;yung mga kapwa natin. With the help of ABS-CBN Foundation, nag-donate sila ng pera para makapagbigay sa mga kababayan natin. So mas malaki at marami &#x27;yung mas natutulungan nila,” she said.Chiu stressed that helping communities requires collective effort, especially at a time when many Filipinos are going through various hardships.“Kailangan talaga natin ngayon magtulong-tulong eh. Hindi mo kaya kung ikaw lang. Kung marami kayong magtutulungan, mas uunlad tayo bilang bansa, bilang mga tao, at bilang Pilipino,” she said.She then shared a message for Filipinos who continue to extend help despite facing struggles of their own.“Sana hindi mapagod ang mga Pilipinong magtulungan. Kasi minsan, nakakapagod na maging Pilipino. Pero hindi mapapagod ang puso natin na tumulong talaga,” Chiu said.The Kapamilya star also reflected on her connection with overseas Filipino workers and supporters around the world, saying she remains touched that Filipinos abroad continue to recognize her after years in the entertainment industry.“Nakakatuwa kasi ano, kilala pa rin ako sa ibang bansa and parang &#x27;pag sinasabi nilang Kim Chiu, naalala nila &#x27;yung kabataan nila,” she said.Chiu said being able to entertain Filipinos living overseas has become another way for her to give back, particularly to those dealing with homesickness while away from their families.“Nakakatulong ako, tayo, na magbigay ng entertainment sa kanila, sa lungkot nila abroad. At the same time, parang nakaka-happy lang to give entertainment because ’yan talaga &#x27;yung work natin, to give them joy na hindi nila ma-miss ang Pilipinas,” she said.
