It’s been too long,” he said.The singer, whose hit song “All Of Me” has become a Filipino karaoke staple, said he is honored that his music has become part of people’s lives. “It makes me so happy when I see other people singing that song because I’m a songwriter at the core. I love knowing that we created something that is part of people’s hearts and part of their lives that they want to sing along to, that they want to play at their weddings and their anniversaries and celebrations,” Legend added.His Manila show entitled “An Evening of Songs and Stories,” will be staged at The Proscenium Theater in Rockwell on September 3-4.<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1787312087251773669714_122196413660767691_4363244496315592288_n.jpg" style="width:500px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div>Legend said the intimate concert will allow fans to connect with him on a deeper level. “I reveal a lot about my life, the stories behind a lot of the songs that I sing, my inspirations as an artist. Some of the ups and downs of growing up as a kid in Ohio. And I do all that with just me on the piano singing and telling my story. We’ll feel like we’re just in my living room together,” he explained.He also expressed excitement about sharing the stage with Filipino fans known for their strong karaoke culture. “I think my fans in the Philippines are some of the most avid music fans in the world. The culture of singing and karaoke in the Philippines is really unmatched pretty much around the world. I have a strong feeling that we’ll be singing a lot of songs together when I’m performing there,” he said.Legend added that if he had to choose one of his songs as the soundtrack to Filipino romance, it would be “All Of Me.” “I think that song is a really great encapsulation of what it means to be in love with someone… through the ups and the downs, the curves and the edges and the perfect imperfections,” he said.He also revealed his fondness for Filipino food, saying he has tried adobo before and is eager to taste lechon. “Oh, I want that. For sure,” he said.When asked which of his songs every Filipino should sing at karaoke, Legend gave three choices. “Well, of course, ‘All Of Me’ is a great one, but I think a lot of my fans love singing ‘Ordinary People’. I have a song that’s kind of less popular, but is a really good karaoke song. It’s called ‘This Time’ from my ‘Evolver’ album. It’s really passionate. It’s about trying to win someone back after you’ve lost them. So I think that’s my kind of underground recommendation that’s a little bit off the beaten path,” he shared.As he prepares for his Manila concert, Legend described his feelings about the city and its people, “Manila is love and music. Filipino fans are some of the greatest music fans in the world. We’re going to have a big sing-along. That’s really what this show is going to be.
