South Korean veteran actor Choi Min-sik is set to join rising star Choi Hyun-wook in the upcoming Netflix suspense drama "Notes from the Last Row."

The streaming platform recently announced production of the series, which is an adaptation of the acclaimed Spanish play "El Chico de la última fila (The Boy in the Last Row)."

The series follows Heo Mun-oh, a grumpy literature professor and failed writer who becomes enamored by the talent of Lee Kang, a mysterious student who always sits in the back row of his class, Netflix said.

Plagued by insecurity and unfulfilled dreams, Mun-oh begins a special literature class with Lee Kang, who rekindles Mun-oh's passion for writing, setting off a series of unexpected twists.

Min-sik, best known for his critically acclaimed performance in the thriller film "Oldboy," plays Mun-oh, who takes Lee Kang under his wing after reading the latter's writing assignment.

Meanwhile, Hyun-wook, whose notable shows include "Twenty-Five Twenty-One" and "Weak Hero," takes on the role of Lee Kang, an engineering student with a gift for literature.

The cast also includes Huh Joon-ho (from "Buried Hearts" and "Bloodhounds"), Kim Yun-jin ("Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area") and Jin Kyung ("Extraordinary Attorney Woo").

The series will be directed by Kim Gyu-tae, who also worked on "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo," "Our Blues" and "The Trunk."

Netflix has yet to share the series' exact premiere date.
