Kelley Day admits she wants to do harder roles

<p>Since representing in the country at the Miss Eco International pageant in 2020 where she won first runner-up, actress and model Kelley Day has decided to focus on her acting, fully returning to showbiz last year after a brief hiatus. This year, she stars in her first full length film <em>All About Her</em>, which is part of the 2026 Sinag Maynila Film Festival. </p><p>“I’m so happy because we shot this film actually last year. We finished it in January 2025 so I wasn’t really sure kung kailan siya ipapalabas. So it’s nice to start 2026 with a film that I’m really excited to show because it’s a role that I never did before. Parang medyo out of ‘yung usual stereotypical character for me to play. I experienced shooting this kind of thriller and horror, intense emotions. As the truth slowly unfolds, it raises the question of how far people are willing to go for fame, love, and power. I guess I can appreciate fashion, I can appreciate makeup, but it’s funny kasi when my friends know me out of work, nagugulat sila when they see me in interviews or sa stage, ‘yung personality ko is different.”</p><p>“Hindi naman siya fake. It’s just a different side of me,” she clarified. </p><p>Since revealing her health struggle with panic disorder in 2024, Kelley has only just returned to acting in 2025. “In the past year or two, kasi nag-stop ako sa showbiz, when I came back to showbiz last year, I decided I wanted to show the other side of me. Kaya ngayon, ‘yung mga projects na ginagawa ko are actually exploring din different sides of me as well. Hindi ‘yung puro sosyal and just maganda lang. Like there’s a dark side na pinapakita ko in terms of acting. So that’s what I’m exploring now.”</p><p>”It’s actually made me more passionate about acting. Kasi before, although I appreciate all of the opportunities that I’ve had, usually it’s the same kind of role. And I want to explore my acting skills. It was my first time working with him. Tapos parang everyone was telling me, you know, be prepared kasi nakakatakot siya, ganun, ganun. So sabi ko, ‘Direk, I’m scared to work with you. Parang hindi ko kaya.’ Sabi niya, ‘Kaya mo yan!’ So pag sa set na, medyo strict siya. But as soon as we finished a scene or nag-lu-lunch break na, sobrang bait niya. So it’s more on the professionalism.
