Josh Mercado </div>MANILA -- In the 1990s, the music landscape was dominated by an influx of Filipino bands that gained mainstream fame, passionate followings, sold-out shows, and had extensive radio airplay. It was an era in Filipino music history when bands told the country&#x27;s stories about love, life, and politics.Some &#x27;90s bands disbanded, members went solo, or pursued new careers, but others reunited and carried on the tradition. Filipinos have a strong connection to the bands of the 1990s, and they continue to listen to the music that defined the era.Produced by Ticket1 and Jonathan Wee, Wency Cornejo of AfterImage, Cooky Chua of Color It Red, Naldy Padilla of Orient Pearl, and Lei Bautista of Prettier Than Pink will gather for an OPM concert at the Music Museum on January 25.For Cornejo, the concert will be a celebration of music and legacy, demonstrating to the public that they still matter in the music industry.“I’d also like to think na ‘yung music namin ay very influential and timeless. Kahit ‘yung mga nauna sa amin ay timeless. It just so happens that our era is filled with timeless music. Hanggang ngayon, buhay pa rin kami as performers, artists, singers, composers dahil nga napaka-influential. I think there are more than 30. Ang dami talaga namin. Isalaksak mo kahit sino na nanggaling sa panahon namin, we will have a fantastic show,” he said.Expressing her love for music and audience, Chua added, “Grateful kami. Sa totoo, ‘yung fire naman of performing our songs ay ever burning. Lagi namang nandiyan. Sobrang grateful to celebrate it. Ang tendency ko kasi nung bata ako, sobra-sobra ang emotions ko to the point na naiiyak ako sa stage. May one time na hindi ko natapos ‘yung kanta kasi super emotional. As I age, nandoon pa rin ‘yung lalim ng pakiramdam pero mas mentally prepared na ako. Parang mas kaya ko na siyang i-handle ngayon. Mas concern na ako sa audience ngayon.”Padilla claimed that he had lost interest in performing until Cornejo reignited his love for music.“Kung hindi ako nagkakamali, 2011, tinawagan ako ni Wency. Kinuha akong mag-guest. Labag na labag sa loob ko kasi ayaw ko nga lumabas pero hindi ako makatanggi. Ang sunod na tawag sa akin ni Wency ay 2017. Talagang decided na ako na ayaw ko na kumanta. Parang paulit-ulit na lang. Nag-show ulit kami sa Solaire. ‘Yung nawala kong interest sa pag-perform, ang bumuhay ulit ay si Wency Cornejo.
