Ylona Garcia shares story behind her song: ‘Exposed, vulnerable. But strong, impactful’

<p>Singer and songwriter Ylona Garcia recently took to social media to share the story and inspiration behind her latest single, &quot;Sick of It.&quot;</p><p>On Instagram, Ylona revealed that the song draws from her personal experiences, spanning from her early years to the present.</p><p>“Exposed, vulnerable. It encapsulated her journey through the entertainment industry, from Australia to the Philippines to the United States. The song reflects the perspective of a young girl stepping into the spotlight and evolving into an independent woman.</p><p>“The song is a culmination of my experiences in the Entertainment Industry from Australia to the Philippines to the United States and from the pov of a girl who had just entered teenhood to now becoming her own woman,” she added. </p><p>The former <em>Pinoy Big Brother</em> housemate also admitted that, for years, she felt she had not learned anything from the people around her that could help her grow as a person.  </p><p>“For so long, I’ve leaned on the names of what the media told me to trust my life with— Record Labels, Entertainment Companies, Management Companies, Public Relations, and Broadcast Networks,” she said. </p><p>“And the biggest problem I ran into was that every single person put in front of me didn’t care to teach me how to build anything meaningful nor care to build anything meaningful with me,” she added.<strong> </strong></p><div><iframe class="instagram-media instagram-media-rendered" id="instagram-embed-11" src="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DGkr0Z8x54d/embed/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=768&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fod2-workbench-web.abs-cbn.com&amp;rp=%2F#%7B%22ci%22%3A11%2C%22os%22%3A9297197.200000048%7D" allowtransparency="true" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="847" data-instgrm-payload-id="instagram-media-payload-11" scrolling="no" style="background:white;max-width:540px;width:calc(100% - 2px);border-radius:3px;border:1px solid rgb(219, 219, 219);box-shadow:none;display:block;margin:0px 0px 12px;min-width:326px;padding:0px"></iframe></div><script async="" src="//www.instagram.com/embed.js"></script><p>Ylona then expressed, “I was just seen as a product to mold that could make them money until I didn’t.”</p><p>The former <em>Pinoy Big Brother </em>housemate found empowerment in creating &quot;Sick of It&quot; alongside her friend and releasing it independently with her own team, emphasizing her desire to &quot;build in an honest way.&quot;</p><p>“To be Exposed to a toxic environment at a young age that didn’t care for me to succeed and still come out wanting to help. </p><p>To be Vulnerable in a song that perfectly describes a huge part of my life. </p><p>To remain Strong through all the times that almost made me give up my values. </p><p>To strive to be as Impactful as those before me and those who have inspired me to keep going,” she expressed.</p><p>Ylona also extended her gratitude to those who have supported her new track.</p><p>“I’m overwhelmingly grateful for all the love this song has received. Thank you to everyone who had been making the time to listen to the song.
