Singer-songwriter mrld grateful for ‘Sandali’ reception, talks about first international stage

<p>OPM young singer-songwriter mrld, whose real name is Meriel de Jesus, expressed her gratitude to both local and international fans for supporting her music.</p><p>During the media conference for her debut album <em>7th Sense</em>, mrld shared her experience performing in Indonesia alongside Indonesian artists.</p><p>“I’m very grateful talaga. It feels different na may mga tao na hindi naman Tagalog na minahal ‘yung kantang Tagalog. It was different there. Sobrang ramdam ko ‘yung pagmamahal nila sa OPM,” she continued.</p><p>The young artist also expressed her pride in seeing Filipino music gaining recognition internationally.</p><p>“I was able to talk with fans and I heard different artists names din from the Philippines. I heard Adie, I heard Zack (Tabudlo). It was November. When I leaked the song, hindi pa siya buo and I remember getting hate comments from the video kasi it’s so not me and it’s a different genre. People tell me to stick to what I write, love songs nga. So, I deleted the video, but the sound is still out there,” she shared.</p><p>Fortunately, listeners grew to love this new side of her.</p><p>“Nagulat nga ako na around March 2024, nagtrend po siya. Noong nilabas ‘yung kanta, thankfully, mas minahal siya ng mga tao. It was the first time din po na sumayaw ako for this song,” she added. “I’m so happy that people know the song and dance kasi I like dance covers also. Thank you sa mga nagmahal noong kanta.”</p><p>Exploring different genres, mrld recently released her debut album<em>, 7th Sense</em>, which reflects her emotions and experiences while showcasing her versatility as a singer.</p><p>“I want this album to open up sa utak ng mga tao na I am able to carry ‘yung mga genre na ito. Kasi sa &#x27;Sandali&#x27;…. no one thought of I would sing &#x27;Sandali&#x27;,” she shared. “Parang sa album din, iba’t ibang genre din sila. But then at some point I thought na since it’s a debut album, I just really want to showcase lang din myself,” she explained to PUSH ABS-CBN. “Kumbaga para mas makilala rin ng mga tao. I wanted it as a gift for myself na rin.”</p>
