<p>Sabrina Carpenter revealed that her upcoming album, <em>Man’s Best Frie</em><em>nd,</em> was born during a complex time in her life. </p><p>&quot;I was just going through a lot and I was like, well I could either sit and sulk about it or I could write about it, and it doesn&#x27;t mean I have to put any of this out. But if it ends up feeling special, and it did, then I will,&quot; she said in an interview with Gayle King in <em>CBS Mornings</em>.</p><p>For Sabrina, songwriting is often her first step when making music. &quot;I have different processes. I think for me the thing that always jumps out the most is lyrics first, and concept,&quot; she said.</p><p>In the same interview, Sabrina also spoke about writing songs inspired by her relationships, saying she is upfront with her partners about her creative process.</p><p>&quot;I feel pretty transparent going into any of my relationships that I write songs... I think it&#x27;s also most of the time they&#x27;ve been pretty flattered when they get a song written about them, good or bad. I think they&#x27;re just excited to get a shoutout,&quot; she said.</p><p>She added: &quot;I am not scared of men in that sense... I don’t think I’ve had greater memories making something before. I made the whole record with 3 of my best most brilliant friends Amy, Jack and John. And if I could turn back time and relive these memories I would,&quot; she posted.</p><p>On the theme of the album, Sabrina relayed: &quot;It’s a real party for heartbreak, a celebration of disappointment! It’s laughing at yourself and your poor choices as everything is falling apart, it’s wondering how loyalty and love always gets you back to third wheeling, spoken sarcastically like a true 25-year-old!&quot;</p>
