EXCLUSIVE: BGYO talks about 'journey of love' in Headlines EP and music camp experience

<p>OPM boy group BGYO is set to showcase their musical growth with the release of their latest extended play (EP) <em>Headlines </em>ahead of their highly anticipated major concert, <em>BGYO: The First Solo Concert.</em></p><p> In an exclusive interview with <strong>PUSH ABS-CBN</strong>, members Gelo, Mikki, Nate, JL, and Akira shared how this new project reflects their evolution as artists, especially in their music.</p><p> “It shows how much we have grown through the years and how much our music evolved. We are very grateful and excited to release all the music na matagal na naming tinatago, ‘di ba? And yeah, it just shows the growth and maturity of BGYO as artists and as persons,” he added.</p><p> Gelo echoed this sentiment, saying the new record represents a “big step” for BGYO, highlighting a more evolved and mature side of their discography.</p><p> As per Nate, <em>Headlines</em> is about the “journey of love” consisting of four tracks including the first two released songs - “All These Ladies” and title track “Headlines.”</p><p> “From celebrating and appreciating the beauty of women from afar, to falling in love and being able to show that love loud and proud, to connecting with that person on a deeper level, and realizing that the first step starts with ‘Dance With Me’. And finally, learning that love isn’t always loud. Love is also quiet, soothing, and healing. When we were in the studio, we didn’t really think about creating an EP. We just read the room. For example: “Okay, let’s make a love song. Anong ideas niyo?” and we just went from there,” Mikki recalled. “Being with such talented producers and songwriters, we learned a lot, and our fire was lit to keep pushing more.”</p><p> During the media conference for <em>Headlines </em>and <em>BGYO: The First Solo Concert</em>, Mikki admitted that they were initially intimidated by the big names they worked with, many of whom had written for global stars like Dua Lipa and BTS.</p><p> “Noong una, kinakabahan talaga kami kasi, you know, they are big names sa industry—tapos malaman mo they wrote for Dua Lipa, BTS, and K-pop. Minsan galing sa personal experiences, minsan galing sa kwento ng iba. It’s a combination of everything, plus the input of everyone in the studio session.
