Piolo Pascual is excited to release a new album after 14 years: ‘I just really took my time’

<p>Although he remains as one of the country’s most sought-after actors even after a 30-year-long career, Piolo Pascual has decided it’s time to remind his fans about his love for creating music as well this year. The multi-talented artist, who is on the cover of Esquire Philippines’ travel issue this month, revealed the exciting news during his BDO Media Day event at the Summit Media office last April 8 in Mandaluyong City. </p><p>It’s been almost 14 years since Piolo released his last album<em> Decades III </em>in 2012. This year marks his first all-duets album with the country’s top OPM artists, including his son Inigo Pascual. </p><p>“I’ve been working on an album. We don’t have a definite title yet, but it’s a duet album. It’s all original. I’m doing duets with our singers. There is Regine (Velasquez), there is Yeng (Constantino), there’s KZ (Tandingan), there’s Klarisse (De Guzman), there’s Juris, to name a few. And I also recorded a song for the fans. And one song that I asked my son to compose for me and we’re going to record it next week. It’s another duet. He also revealed that he will be having his own concert later this year. </p><p>“I’ve been working on it since before the pandemic and then the pandemic happened. We didn’t want to rush it. But since I’m working on a concert this November, the last recording was with Inigo and it’s going to come out in time for my concert in November. It’s a new album. I’ve not released an album for so many years so I just really took my time. He shared what he wishes people could appreciate in him.</p><p>“That I’m funny. I can be funny (laughs). My friends know that. My family knows. Yung manager ko, one time told me, ‘I wish people knew you as this. I wish people see you as you are.’ Because off cam, I’m super kenkoy. Growing up, I wanted to be a pilot. When I was in college, I wanted to take up automechanical engineering. I wanted to fix cars. And I wanted to be a newscaster. I wanted to be a journalist. But top of mind for me growing up was I wanted to be a pilot. I wanted to fly planes,” he said. </p>
