Reyma Deveza, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA — The biggest Awit Awards is set to happen this September at Mall of Asia Arena.The Philippine Association of the Record Industry ( PARI) unveiled changes and upgrades for the 39th Awit Awards in a media conference on Tuesday, April 14, in Cubao, Quezon City.PARI’s new president Enzo Valdez presented its plans, supported by 35 recording label members and six partner music organizations.Partnered with Go Live Asia, the Awit Awards will be having new categories this year. For the first time it will be open to non-member artists, showing the organization’s “commitment to widening access and recognizing a more diverse spectrum of Filipino musical talent.”“This year, we are removing the special awards, but it&#x27;s not gone for good. We&#x27;re just transferring it to the other pillars of PARI so that the Awit Awards will just focus on music excellence,” Valdez said.“We are adding three new categories. The first one is the Best New Artist, just one artist a year. Number two, we are celebrating the Songwriter of the Year, and number three, we are also celebrating the Producer of the Year,” he said.Valdez also announced the creation of the Awit Voting Community (AVC), which is tasked with choosing final nominees and winners.Apart from the changes in the 39th Awit Awards, Valdez also announced that the Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino Awards, which will be held in October at the Goldenberg Mansion in Malacañang.“We are going to be doing the Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino Awards as a separate show. We have to celebrate all the greats. We are uniting the Lifetime Achievement Award as a part of the Dangal ng Musikang Filipino,” he shared.“This year we are awarding multiple people behind the scenes and also in front of the stage, at the camera, and of the recording. So we are awarding our recording artists a concert artist, a composer, a sound engineer, the 2025 Global Impact Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award,” he added.The creative and show direction of Awit Awards and Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino Awards will be led by Paolo Valenciano and Nico Faustino.PARI chairman Antonio Ocamp highlighted the organization’s future goal.“The direction of PARI is taking over the next few years is both purposeful and exciting. We are laying the groundwork for sustained growth — one that embraces inmovation, strengthens industry collaboration and ensures that Filipino music continues to thrive both locally and on global stage,” Ocampo said.
