<p>Olivia Rodrigo opened up about why she chose “Drop Dead” as the first single from her upcoming album <em>You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl so in Love</em>.</p><p>In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music’s <em>New Music Daily</em>, the singer described the track as the “first chapter” of the story she wants to tell in the record.</p><p>&quot;I think this song has always been the first step on this journey of <em>You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl so in Love,</em>&quot; she shared.</p><p>Olivia explained that the song captures the emotions of a first date.</p><p>&quot;It&#x27;s about a first date and so it just feels like a new beginning and it&#x27;s just trying to capture all those feelings of meeting someone that you have feelings for. When you’re experiencing that you’re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you’re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!&quot; she pointed out.</p><p>The singer also hinted that many of the songs lean toward &quot;sad love songs,&quot; adding, &quot;I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.&quot;</p>
