Gracie Abrams reflects on meaning behind new album 'Daughter From Hell'

<p>Gracie Abrams opened up about the inspiration behind her upcoming album and the meaning behind its title, <em>Daughter From Hell.</em></p><p>In an interview on TikTok Radio, the singer shared that the album explores the uncertainty and transition that often come with being in one’s 20s.</p><p>&quot;This album as a whole is about this in-between decade, sort of our 20s, where one foot is in your post-adolescence and the other is in your future,&quot; she said.</p><p>The “That’s So True” hitmaker revealed that turning 26 led her to reflect more deeply on her life and relationships.</p><p>&quot;I think that being 26, for whatever reason at this point I felt like I&#x27;ve been reflecting in more meaningful ways than I have in the past. I think I credit my relationships with my family for everything, especially when it comes to feeling super alone or like you&#x27;re floating away from your body or something, like all of that kind of scary existential stuff,&quot; she remarked.</p><p>The singer went on to discuss her close bond with her mother, which also influenced parts of the album.</p><p>&quot;I feel so rooted in conversations with my mom, like I Facetime her six times a day. I think this whole album was made after having toured for the past four years,&quot; she said.</p><p>The singer explained that performing live has helped her better communicate the stories behind her songs while also deepening her appreciation for the shared experience between artists and audiences.</p><p>&quot;I think figuring out how to use my voice in ways to better communicate the story that I&#x27;m writing has been really important to me, and also thinking about the actual space that we&#x27;re in. Thinking about like fan experience wanting to make songs that I think they would love to sing with me,&quot; she remarked.</p><p>Gracie also described touring as a meaningful and uplifting experience.</p><p>&quot;And also in these times, I do believe touring is the antidote in many ways, it&#x27;s like so pure and sincere for people to go out of their way to gather and sing with strangers. That concept alone is wild. So, I just feel like a lucky observer, and you know participant I supposed in the joy of touring so hopefully it all translates when we get back out there,&quot; she stated.</p>
