<div>If you have ever sat in a karaoke booth after a bad breakup and reached for a song that understood exactly how you felt, there is a good chance &quot;The Man Who Can&#x27;t Be Moved&quot; was your pick. Sixteen years after it first wrecked everyone&#x27;s hearts, The Script&#x27;s Danny O&#x27;Donoghue is announcing that the story is not over.</div>During a press conference held at Marco Polo Hotel in Ortigas as part of his visit to Manila, the Irish pop-rock band&#x27;s vocalist revealed that their upcoming album, The User&#x27;s Guide to Being Human, will include a track called &quot;Living Our Life Without Me&quot; – which he described as a direct sequel to the band&#x27;s iconic 2008 hit.&quot;I think the Philippines loves &#x27;The Man Who Can&#x27;t Be Moved.&#x27; So there&#x27;s this song which is called &#x27;Living Our Life Without Me.&#x27; It&#x27;s &#x27;The Man Who Can&#x27;t Be Moved&#x27; part 2,&quot; he said.&quot;It&#x27;s almost like a continuation of that story, moving on. And I get to meet the girl on the street, and there&#x27;s a guy beside her. I&#x27;m not gonna ruin the story.&quot;What makes the reveal even more interesting is that Danny said he did not set out to write a sequel – he only realized it after the fact.&quot;I didn&#x27;t realize when I was writing it. But when you look at the story like, &#x27;Ohh. That is part 2, isn&#x27;t it?&#x27;&quot; he said. The band also plans to shoot the music video at the same corner featured in the original, bringing the story full circle. We&#x27;re going back to the corner again,&quot; he confirmed.&quot;The Man Who Can&#x27;t Be Moved&quot; remains one of The Script&#x27;s most enduring songs. On YouTube alone, it has surpassed half a billion views, while it has racked up over 1.3 billion streams on Spotify – just behind their all-time most-streamed track &quot;Breakeven,&quot; which has over 1.4 billion streams on the platform.The User&#x27;s Guide to Being Human is set for release on August 14, and Danny said the band is approaching it with a renewed energy that has been missing for some time.&quot;I haven&#x27;t been this excited in ages because there&#x27;s a sense of optimism that&#x27;s kind of come back in the band again,&quot; he said.That optimism, he explained, was hard-earned. The album follows Satellites – the band&#x27;s seventh studio album, released in 2024 – which was written in the aftermath of the death of founding member and guitarist Mark Sheehan, who passed away in April 2023 after a brief illness. Mark had been with the band since its formation in Dublin in 2001, and his loss hit Danny both professionally and personally.&quot;Like our last album, we were trying to write what we had just gone through. There was a massive blow to me and to the band, not just as a lyricist but as a best friend for 20 years,&quot; Danny shared.&quot;With grief, you never lose it – you just grow around it. And I feel like I&#x27;ve done my growing around it now, and I can start to finally see the light at the end of the darkness from where we were,” he added.Danny also took a moment to speak about what the Philippines means to the band – and the numbers he cited were striking. &quot;To see how big our songs are over here – for such a small country, you guys are actually the biggest fanbase we have around the world,&quot; he said.&quot;So, although we&#x27;re bigger, like, say, in America, the Philippines per capita has the most Script fans in any country other than Ireland, which is insane because we&#x27;re thousands and thousands of miles away.&quot;The Script has maintained a loyal following in the Philippines over the years, consistently including Manila in their tour stops.Currently composed of members Glen Power, Benjamin Sargeant, Ben Weaver, and Danny O’Donoghue, the band is set to return on March 18, 2027, for the Man in the Arena Tour, which will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.<div>-By Paolo Lim</div>
