MANILA — Iconic Filipino rock group The Dawn is marking its 40th year with a milestone concert titled “Kwarenta,” that promises to be both a nostalgic journey and a celebration of its enduring influence in local music.Frontman Jett Pangan said the show will highlight the band’s evolution across four decades: “It’s going to be a collection or a concentration maybe of 40 years of music from The Dawn. Yes we’ve done many concerts before but for this one, it’s gonna be really special because we’re gonna try to tell a story of the band from as far as 1987 up to today.”Reflecting on the milestone, Pangan admitted the years have taken their toll but expressed gratitude for the band’s longevity: “Some creaking bones here and there, generally older. But [we’re] grateful [and] thankful na umabot kami ng ganitong katagal.”The concert will also reunite past and present members. Guitarist Francis Reyes revealed that three bassists, Carlos Balcells, Buddy Zabala, and Bim Yance, will join the lineup, along with guitarist Kenneth Ilagan. “We actually reached out to former members who are not in the country, and months ago they were game sana… but there are certain things globally and economically [that have] happened so medyo naudlot yun… But having Buddy and Caloy is a huge plus, especially Caloy because he has been there since the start of the recording history of the band.”Guitarist Rommel Sanchez added that the show will include heartfelt tributes of their members who have passed. “Ako personally [on what I’m excited to perform], there will be two segments to a tribute to Mon Legaspi and Teddy Diaz, for me personally.”The Dawn’s anniversary concert is expected to stand out from their previous shows by weaving together music, storytelling, and tributes, a testament to their storied legacy in Philippine rock.Directed by Paolo Valenciano, the concert that will take place on June 27 at the Theatre at Solaire will feature a career-spanning setlist, showcasing hits from the band&#x27;s 1987 self-titled debut album up to their 2018 release &quot;Ascendant.&quot;
