He was 62.His partner, Bashia Grafilo, shared updates throughout his hospitalization, first confirming on May 29 that he had been admitted to the ICU after a ruptured appendix.In the days that followed, she described his condition as extremely delicate, later noting complications, and the need for intensive treatments such as targeted antibiotics and dialysis. Despite signs of response to treatment, his condition remained critical.On June 8, Grafilo announced that Austria had passed away &quot;peacefully after his battle with sepsis, surrounded by family and loved ones.&quot;&quot;Abraham &#x27;Bing&#x27; Austria is now painless and sent off by his family and loved ones to a nice place,&quot; she wrote as she thanked friends, fans, and the music community for their outpouring of support and financial assistance, which she said gave him “a fighting chance.”Austria leaves behind a legacy that helped shape the sound and spirit of Filipino ska and reggae.Beyond music, he was widely regarded as part of a tight-knit creative community that regularly rallied around benefit gigs and grassroots support efforts —- something that became especially visible during his final days, when friends and fellow musicians organized fundraisers to help with his medical care.Arrangements for memorial services and celebrations of his life and music are expected to be announced by the family.
