<p>Ten years after appearing in the viral “Baby Shark Dance” video, Park Geon-roung is stepping into a new chapter as he returns to the music scene.</p><p>Now 17, Geon-roung has taken on the stage name Baby Shark Boy as he released his first digital single, “WAVE,” on August 20 under The Pinkfong Company.</p><p>“WAVE” opens with the familiar “Baby Shark” melody before transitioning into an energetic electropop dance track with trap influences. Geon-roung also participated in writing the lyrics, which reflect his excitement about moving beyond his childhood and taking on a new challenge. Ten years ago I was dancing next to ‘Baby Shark’. Now, I wanted to share my own voice and a story I wrote myself. I&#x27;m happy to start something new with the people who&#x27;ve remembered me all this time, and I want to keep showing how I grow from here,&quot; he said.</p><p>A representative from The Pinkfong Company also emphasized that the project is about allowing Geon-roung to establish an identity of his own beyond his childhood appearance in the viral video.</p><p>&quot;Baby Shark Boy grew up alongside ‘Baby Shark’ and built a special connection with fans around the world. This isn&#x27;t just about bringing back the boy from the video. For now, it is being treated as a one-time release, with any future activities to be decided after the single comes out.</p>
