Taylor Swift shares ‘rant bridge’ technique behind her most emotional songs

<p>Multi-awarded singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is giving fans a deeper look into her iconic ‘rant bridge’, one of the most talked-about elements of her songwriting and a technique she says plays a crucial role in delivering the emotional core of her music. </p><p>In a 30-minute interview with The New York Times, the global pop icon described how bridges function as a turning point in her songs, allowing her to reshape the narrative and elevate its meaning. </p><p>“I think the importance for me of a bridge... it just feels like repainting a picture we’re setting a scene. You can start painting the picture in the verse. You can get to the heart of it at the chorus. As fans expressed interest in hearing a longer version of the song, Taylor revisited the material and began reconstructing it using fragments of the original session, along with personal notes and memories resulting in the 10-minute version of “All Too Well” released in 2021. </p><p>By 2023, Taylor won a Grammy for Best Music Video for the <em>All Too Well: The Short Film</em> which she had written, directed, and produced.  </p>
