LOOK: Team Vhong & Ryan takes the message against bullying to a whole new level in scintillating, illusory Magpasikat 2018 performance

In his previous Magpasikat entries, Vhong Navarro has been famous for his futuristic concepts, which involve eye-catching optical illusions, magnificent visual and light effects, and of course, fascinating dance moves.And his entry this year wasn’t an exception as he, together with his teammates Ryan Bang, Hashtag members CK Kieron, Nikko Natividad, and Paulo Angeles, and gorgeous GirlTrends Maika Rivera and Dawn Chang, amazed us with how they artistically played with lights on live television and seamlessly injected it to their heart-wrenching narrative about bullying.To brief us on how their production number would progress, a VTR of them introducing us to their respective characters via a mock interview was shown. As the interview and their dance rehearsal went along, it was notable how they mercilessly picked on the role of Ryan – Danny – who they consider as an outcast and a lackey to their group, spearheaded by the tormentor Erik (played by Vhong).The succeeding scene stirred the audiences more as the team, sans Vhong, was seen standing by a grave wearing their sad faces and white attires, which left us wondering if Erik died and for what reason.Subsequently, they provided the continuation of the heart-rending story through their live performance on-stage that bedazzled us with their amusing light show displayed in spilt-screens, marvelous coordination in utilizing their lightsabers, and dumbfounding visual effects.Apart from that, what absolutely compelled us was the incredible dramatic prowess showcased by Ryan in portraying his role, which required him to cry on-the-spot and act as if he is truly hurt by the maltreatment and snide remarks of his “friends”.At the same time, Vhong did a great job in being an antagonist, who at one point was seemingly torn between retaining his crass attitude towards Danny or starting to change his ways and be good to him. But in the end, he still chose to be mean to him.Unbeknownst to them, what only Danny desired was to be loved and valued by them despite his inability to get attuned with their dance routines, since they were the only ones he consider as his friends.The VTR rolled again, revealing that it was him who died after saving Erik from the accident and the latter, and the rest of the squad, immensely regretting taking him for granted and treating him so badly.Team Red concluded their act standing separately on the platform, with Vhong and Ryan’s hologram at the middle, before holding each other’s hands to bow.Their presentation indeed left most of the spectators crying, including their co-hosts, because we find it very much relatable. Either we experienced getting bullied or not, Team Vhong-Ryan’s presentation is an eye-opener that this type of misbehavior is still prevalent and we should learn to take into consideration how others might feel or think with every word that comes from our mouths and with every action that we take. Besides, we should also be grateful to those people who unconditionally love us no matter what and be appreciative of their relentless efforts before it’s too late for them to know.Is tugging our heartstrings with their evocative story and striking message the key for Ryan to finally achieve his longtime dream of winning at the annual Magpasikat and for Vhong to snag his back-to-back victory?
