The most hated teleserye characters of 2024: Who pushed your 'gigil' to the limit?

This year, ABS-CBN delivered an unforgettable lineup of teleseryes, packed with heroes to root for and kontrabidas who made us lose our cool. From manipulative masterminds to mistresses with unmatched ‘kapal ng mukha,’ these characters truly deserved to be in the list of the most hated villains of 2024. 

David (McCoy de Leon)

Let's start with David from "FPJ's Batang Quiapo," who has been on the most hated list since 2023, and somehow, he’s managed to top even his own villainy in 2024. If you put David side by side with Satan, the devil might just feel scared. 

From stealing Tanggol’s (Coco Martin) identity, he leveled up to becoming a cold-blooded killer. The entire nation seethed when he mercilessly killed the innocent Camille (Yukii Takahashi) inside the ICU. The fact that Camille was pregnant with their child didn't even bother his conscience. David actually thought he was doing the right thing by “eliminating” any obstacles to his evil plans.

David also forced Katherine (Ara Davao) into marrying him and subjected her to unspeakable abuse. And as if that wasn’t enough, he later joined his family in the gruesome massacre of the Caballero clan. He himself shot Katherine's grandpa, Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas), and now he’s taking things even further by manipulating events to ensure all of the Caballero riches fall into his hands.

And let's not forget that he also killed Bubbles (Ivana Alawi), and even gleefully filmed her as she struggled to take her last breath. 

Lena (Mercdes Cabral) 

To be a mistress is already a sin in itself, but to be a proud one who agrees to move into the same house as her lover’s legal family is next-level 'kakapalan ng mukha,' something that Lena mastered in "FPJ's Batang Quiapo."

She became the queen of chaos in the Dimaguiba household by pulling off the most outrageous stunts to stir trouble. Once, she threw herself down the stairs and made it look like Tanggol pushed her. Her talent for lying and acting 'pabebe' truly had viewers fuming all year round. 

After suffering a miscarriage, Lena’s descent into madness led her down a dark and twisted path, with the beloved Noy (Lou Veloso) as her first victim. She cruelly stabbed him multiple times before stuffing his body into a suitcase. She then attempted to add Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) and Tindeng (Charo Santos) to her list. However, karma finally caught up with her when, in a poetic twist, she was shot by her own lover, Rigor (John Estrada), during her attempt to murder Marites and Tindeng.

Tori (Dimples Romana) 

Tori's villainy in "High Street" was so bone-chilling, as she hid her sinister nature beneath a polished mask. But behind closed doors, she kept her targets, especially Sky (Andrea Brillantes), under obsessive and creepy surveillance. Her watchful eye meticulously tracked her enemies' every move. Tori was extremely diabolical that she even faked her attempted murder and trained her children to become professional stalkers. 

Juliana (Kim Chiu)

Another ‘kabit’ makes it to the list, but Juliana from "Linlang The Teleserye Version" was no ordinary mistress—she was the ultimate flirt and a seasoned serial cheater who effortlessly ensnared her victims in a web of deceit and manipulation. For instance, when her husband Victor (Paulo Avelino) caught her red-handed with his half-brother Alex (JM de Guzman), she managed to twist the narrative by shedding fake tears and claiming Victor was making up stories. She was certainly willing to go to extreme lengths to cover up her ‘kalandian.’

Alex (JM de Guzman)

A total jerk and a 'mama's boy'—that's Alex from "Linlang: The Teleserye Version." After his affair with Juliana was exposed, Alex went from being a sneaky liar to a full-on abuser beating women. But what really sealed his fate as one of 2024’s most hated villains was when he crossed the ultimate line by killing his own wife, and then framed half-brother Victor for the crime. Monster. 

Justin (Grae Fernandez) and Jaime (Tirso Cruz III)

With devilish stare, Justin from "Pamilya Sagrado" is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. He delivered his lines as if his words were dripping with venom, enough to send shivers down your spine. Watching him corner Moises (Kyle Echarri) in their confrontations felt like playing Minesweeper—one wrong move, and the bomb goes off. 

Well, he got this dark, dangerous side from his grandfather, Jaime, who is also part of this list. These two Sagrados are cut from the same cloth, willing to go to unimaginable lengths to protect their “sacred” names and power, even if it meant killing for their cause, or dragging the innocent into hell. 

Iris (Janine Gutierrez) 

One look from Iris, and you feel like you’re staring into a blazing inferno. The way she combines elegance and danger in "Lavender Fields" makes her one of those bad girls you can’t help but love to hate. What sets Iris apart is that her villainy stems from something almost relatable – love that turns into an all-consuming obsession. Iris' kontrabida mark is in her icy words that hit harder than a slap. When her husband Tyrone (Jericho Rosales) asked for a divorce, for instance, she unleashed her venom and told him, "Mamatay na lang tayong lahat kesa mapunta ka sa iba.” You can’t help but be fascinated and scared of her all at once.

Cindy (Agot Isidro)

In "Can't Buy Me Love," the life of protagonist Caroline (Belle Mariano) may have seemed like a fairytale, but, of course, every fairytale needs a wicked witch—and Cindy was that witch. From day one, she made Caroline’s life a living nightmare, constantly hurting and belittling her. Cindy’s maldita ways were as cruel as they come.
