5 most intense showdowns of Jasmin and Iris in “Lavender Fields”

Seeing Jodi Sta. Maria and Janine Gutierrez in one project together—like “Lavender Fields” —was a dream come true for their fans and avid Kapamilya viewers, since it was something that we probably didn’t expect to happen until Janine made the surprising, bold move to ABS-CBN Studios in 2021.

Thus, many were delighted when it was announced that they were going to work on this series that truly displayed their versatility and range as actresses, as they didn’t only get to showcase their dramatic flair but also their hidden skills in doing stunts.

And in this edition of Friday 5, which falls on the finale day of “Lavender Fields,” let’s look back on five of the most exhilarating face-offs of their characters, Jasmin and Iris, that showed how truly femme fatale they both are!

Their first-ever encounter was when Iris and her father, Vittorio (Edu Manzano), had Jasmin kidnapped upon finding out that she’s the mistress of her beloved husband, Tyrone (Jericho Rosales). Despite being aware that Jasmin was pregnant, it still didn’t stop Iris and her henchmen from torturing her, from which Jasmin was able to escape amazingly. Jasmin was even able to muster the strength to fight back at Iris and shoot her in spite of her wounds and injuries. 

Several years later, they once again engaged in an intense skirmish through which they didn’t only impress us with their intensity as dramatic actresses but also with their unbelievable capability in executing their stunts. It was in this fight scene where Iris learned that it was Lance (Biboy Ramirez), the husband of her best friend Lily (Jolina Magdangal), who stole Jasmin’s daughter, Camilla (Janell Gonzaga), as a replacement for their stillborn child. At the same time, it was also through this scene that Iris first threatened the life of Camilla, which further triggered the anger of Jasmin.

Jasmin then had her turn in agitating the gigil and fury of Iris as she hurled piercing words at her during their scorching spat that happened while Jasmin was bonding with Camilla and Tyrone. She triggered her by carelessly insinuating about her marriage with Tyrone, her not having a real family to call her own, and her being wealthy but not happy. As Iris couldn’t take it anymore, she quickly took her gun out and shot Jasmin in the arm, although there were a lot of people around them.

As part of her vengeful plot, Iris revealed to Camilla that Jasmin is her real mom and even brainwashed her into believing that Jasmin is a bad person. Of course, that annoyed Jasmin, which resulted in their quarrel in front of Camilla. Jasmin’s exasperation against her further escalated when Iris put on a show by pretending in front of the police that she was actually searching for Camilla, too, and even used the pregnant card to gain the sympathy of the authorities.

And lastly, in her pursuit of finding her daughter, Jasmin bravely entered into the enemy’s lair all by herself, wherein a thrilling skirmish ensued between them. Iris initially tried to lie about Camilla being there at her house, which infuriated Jasmin and prompted her to brandish a knife at her. Iris was able to corner her and threatened to kill her by pointing her little gun at her, which Jasmin tried to grab but to no avail.
