6 “enemies-to-lovers” love stories in Kapamilya teleseryes that brought us kilig through the years

But among those, the “enemies-to-lovers” trope is arguably a top favorite for many of us. Apparently, we find it amusing to see how destiny would work on two characters who start out as enemies and subsequently turn into romantic partners in the end after they’re able to beat their differences and work together to achieve their common goal. </div><p>Of course, Kapamilya teleseryes have incorporated this well-loved trope in their remarkable narrative and we looked back on six of them via this special Valentine’s Day feature! </p><div>  </div><div><strong>He&#x27;s Into Her, Max Valle and Deib Enrile </strong></div><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="1263" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fDOP9lyLRa8" title="Deib Lohr will talk to Maxpein again | He&#x27;s Into Her" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="911" height="543" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/E6oMoOYi-4Q" title="Max and Deib try to hide their relationship. | He&#x27;s Into Her Season 2 Highlights" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div>  </div><p>Based on the 2012 novel of the same title written by Maxinejiji (Maxine Lat Calibuso), “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/hesintoher/articles-news/viewers-praise-hes-into-her-season-2-pilot-episode-trends-on-social-media-17162" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>He’s Into Her</u></strong></a>” follows the journey of Max (Belle Mariano), a fearless probinsyana who became the target of the bullying of her schoolmates in Benison International School. And the mastermind? None other than the basketball varsity captain and ultimate campus heartthrob, Deib (Donny Pangilinan). </p><p>Just when he thought that he would be able to crush her spirit through all the nasty antics that he and their schoolmates had done against her, Deib discovered that Max was actually too tough and tenacious to be toppled down. Thus, they engaged in almost incessant cat-and-dog fights witnessed by their barkada, until both of them realized that they were already falling for each other. </p><p>Their blossoming and delicate romance may have gone through a lot of challenges, including having to keep their relationship a secret for quite some time due to the objection of both their families, yet they were able to conquer those obstacles hand-in-hand and had a happy ending. </p><div>  </div><div><strong>Can&#x27;t Buy Me Love, Irene Tiu and Snoop Manansala</strong></div><div><br/></div><script data-wid="auto" type="text/javascript" src="https://content.viralize.tv/display/?zid=AAEyze-tm4MR6kEa&amp;cid=AA6rIxtdcgqUmoxi&amp;activation=click&amp;vip_mode=playing&amp;vip_position=bottom-right"></script><div><br/></div><script data-wid="auto" type="text/javascript" src="https://content.viralize.tv/display/?zid=AAEyze-tm4MR6kEa&amp;cid=ABCkprONs7IlP1Iy&amp;activation=click&amp;vip_mode=playing&amp;vip_position=bottom-right"></script><div>  </div><p>She’s from an affluent Filipino-Chinese family, while he has to take on odd jobs just to make both ends meet. She’s a snobby and high maintenance “it girl”, while he’s a cheerful and ordinary boy-next-door. Despite the stark differences between them, not to mention how they got into each other’s nerves at first, these didn’t serve as hindrances for love to overcome Irene and Snoop, compellingly played by Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings in “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/cantbuymelove/articles-videos/15-snorene-scenes-from-cant-buy-me-love-that-well-never-get-tired-of-watching-22257" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>Can’t Buy Me Love</u></strong></a>.” </p><p> The “SnoRene” scenes were indeed a ray of sunshine in the recurring dark and dramatic theme of the series, as they never failed to amuse viewers with their adorable and hilarious interactions that became the talk of the town.  </p><p> From mere strangers-turned-nemeses who often annoy one another, they eventually become partners-in-crime as Snoop became a dependable accomplice of Irene in her shenanigans and other plans. After being initially in denial of their true feelings for each other, Snoop and Irene officially became a couple in the end. </p><div>  </div><div><strong>Senior High, Roxy Cristobal and Archie Aguerro</strong> </div><div><br/></div><script data-wid="auto" type="text/javascript" src="https://content.viralize.tv/display/?zid=AAEyze-tm4MR6kEa&amp;cid=AA08s9dqT5ibHVq1&amp;activation=click&amp;vip_mode=playing&amp;vip_position=bottom-right"></script><div><br/></div><script data-wid="auto" type="text/javascript" src="https://content.viralize.tv/display/?zid=AAEyze-tm4MR6kEa&amp;cid=AA603A1iQ4kZo24w&amp;activation=click&amp;vip_mode=playing&amp;vip_position=bottom-right"></script><div>  </div><p>Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without the well-loved team-up of Roxy and Archie from “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/seniorhigh2023/articles-videos/10-times-roxchie-charmed-viewers-with-love-hate-journey-in-senior-high-21463" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>Senior High</u></strong></a>,” astoundingly portrayed by award-winning young actors Xyriel Manabat and Elijah Canlas. </p><p>The almost non-stop bickering of “RoxChie” truly entertained audiences, which made their ardent shippers strongly pine for them to be each other’s endgame, despite Roxy still being in a relationship then with Tim (Zaijan Jaranilla), who subsequently came out as gay. </p><p> After trying so hard to conceal his romantic feelings towards her by piquing her every chance he got, Archie eventually gave in and initiated the intimate night they’d shared, which brought them Riley (Argus Aspiras). They might have gone estranged from each other for quite some time–with Roxy having to juggle work and taking care of their son, while Archie getting imprisoned in the United States–but their family still got reunited in the end as seen in the sequel, “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/highstreet2024/articles-videos/10-times-roxys-heart-was-caught-in-archie-and-kevins-tug-of-war-in-high-street-23148" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>High Street</u></strong></a>.”</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Kadenang Ginto, Marga Bartolome and Mikoy Sarmiento </strong></div><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="1263" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9K6Rel41L1M" title="Marga, muling nainis sa mga hirit ni Mikoy | Kadenang Ginto (With Eng Subs)" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="1263" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/XM_5ICrg4EI" title="Mikoy, gagawin ang lahat para mapasaya si Marga | Kadenang Ginto (With Eng Subs)" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div> </div><p>While “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/kadenangginto/videos/mikoy-gagawin-ang-lahat-para-mapasaya-si-marga-250702" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>Kadenang Ginto</u></strong></a>” was popular for the scorching confrontation scenes of the two lead female characters and their daughters, it also had its own share of kilig moments </p><p>care of its two pairs of teen characters. One of them being Marga and Mikoy, played by Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin, who were able to find a common denominator despite their differences—love. </p><p>They might have a rough start as Marga was completely spiteful towards Mikoy on their fateful first-ever meeting, yet his playful and cheerful persona was able to soften and warm her stone-cold heart as time went by. Although Marga tend to get often annoyed with Mikoy, she eventually learned to love him and agreed to become his girlfriend as she witnessed his tireless and courageous efforts for her. In return, Marga stood up and fought for her love for Mikoy, even though that meant having to disobey her mom, who highly objected their relationship. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Ngayon at Kailanman, Eva Mapendo and Inno Cortes </strong></div><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="1263" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZWB-zhvwuYw" title="Ngayon At Kailanman: Eva and Inno cross paths again | EP 9" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="1263" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/WTHZxBRsBJQ" title="Ngayon at Kailanman: Eva loves Inno! | EP 77" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><p>Another “enemies-to-lovers” kind of romance that we’d witnessed on Kapamilya TV was of Eva and Inno in “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/ngayonatkailanman/articles-photos/throwback-the-stars-of-ngayon-at-kailanman-2018-16508" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>Ngayon at Kailanman</u></strong></a>,” portrayed by former real-life couple Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia. Inno and Eva’s relationship also didn’t have a good start for they both initially despised one another following the accidental switching of their belongings while both of them were at the same train. </p><p>They had a slew of fateful encounters that often resulted to altercations, but those stopped when they had to work alongside each other after Eva got hired in the jewelry company owned by Inno’s family. As they grew closer, love also started to blossom between them, which got tested a number of times, especially when the truth behind their identities got discovered. Both of them might have died in the end, but we saw how happy they were together in the afterlife.  </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Forevermore, Agnes Calay and Xander Grande </strong></div><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="1263" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9zr1HjFX-R4" title="Forevermore: Agnes tortures Xander" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="1263" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/a-EF-ffkt8U" title="Forevermore: Agnes gives her sweet &quot;yes&quot; to Xander" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><p>The series that made us believe in the magic of “kambal na strawberry” and gave birth to the LizQuen tandem, “Forevermore” follows the love journey of Agnes (Liza Soberano), the beautiful and diligent daughter of a strawberry farmer, and Xander (Enrique Gil), the dashing and rebellious unico hijo of a hotel magnate. They first crossed paths when he accidentally crashed into Agnes’ truck, who was then on her way to deliver their freshly picked strawberries, while doing BASE jumping. Thus, as a way of compensating the damages he had incurred, his parents forced him to live and work at the strawberry farm. </p>
