Chito Samontina shares how Melai Cantiveros inspires him

<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1738718372021ENT-OD2(49).jpg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><br/></div><p>Following their insightful and lighthearted conversation in the first half of the latest episode of “<strong><em>Kuan On One</em></strong>” that premiered on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube Channel on Tuesday, February 4, host Melai Cantiveros had her guest, Davaoeño content creator Chito Samontina, show off his skills in acting and wisdom in imparting sound advice to kuanizens through the segments of the well-loved online show.</p><p>In the “Dakong Problema” segment, Kuantie Melai allowed Chito to unleash his acting skills through an intense challenge. Since he mentioned submitting an audition tape to Ogie Diaz, she dared him to do the piece used by the esteemed talent manager in one of his acting workshops that went viral online. And he impressively nailed it, which received praises from the gregarious host.</p><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="1263" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nsZtcPWRkng" title="CHITO SAMONTINA:”Kung wala nako ‘to naagian, di ko maningkamot…” | KUAN ON ONE S2 Ep11 w/ subs" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><p>This made Chito utter a special shout-out for “<a href="http://abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/batangquiapo" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>FPJ’s Batang Quiapo</u></strong></a>” lead actor and director Coco Martin in jest, which Kuantie Melai seconded by also asking the Kapamilya Star to include her Bisdak friend—who’s also open to trying acting—in the top-rating primetime series as a guest cast member.</p><p>They also gave a shout-out to a fan named “therealalmaira” in the “Kuanisends” segment and graciously helped her out by responding to her question, “Para sa akin ba ang pinapangarap kong pangarap?”</p><p>Kuantie Melai believes that it all boils down to what her dream is and if she thinks she could attain it. She said, “Ikaw lang ang nakakaalam kung ano talaga ang pangarap mo. Depende ‘yan sa pangarap mo. Kung masyadong mataas ang pangarap mo, wala tayong magagawa do’n. Kaya mo bang abutin ang ganoon kataas? Kung maabot mo man ang pangarap mo, kayang-kaya mo ‘yang gawin.”</p><p>Meanwhile, Chito reminded the “kuanizen” that she can always shift to other endeavors if ever she realizes or feels that what she’s currently pursuing is not really meant for her. He stated, “Para sa akin, walang limit dapat pagdating sa pangarap. Ikaw lang ang makakasagot sa tanong mo. Nakadepende ang pangarap mo sa sipag mo para maabot ang pangarap mo. Kung puro pangarap lang tayo, masasabi talaga natin na hindi para sa atin ang pangarap natin.”  </p><p>He added, “Kaya pagsikapan mo ‘yan, samahan dapat ng sipag, tiwala sa Diyos, at sa consistency. Pero kung tingin mo ay nahihirapan ka na, kung sa tingin mo ay hindi na para sa’yo, pwede naman tayong mag-shift sa ibang pangarap.”</p><p>The two then imparted their realizations on Chito’s journey in the “Ultimate Yawyaw” segment, with Kuantie Melai commending him for not easily giving up despite the challenges he had to face and overcome, such as going through depression and anxiety.  </p><p>“Ngayon, proud ako sa’yo dahil hindi ka talaga huminto. Lumaban ka pa rin. Isa kang inspirasyon para sa ating mga Bisdak na Gen Z, Bisdak Millennials, at Bisdak na senior citizens,” she conveyed.</p><p>Chito, on the other hand, included Kuantie Melai in his “Ultimate Yawyaw” as he enthused about how she’s a great example for everyone and how she’s worthy of emulating.  </p><p>He said, “Hindi kasikatan ang magpapabago sa isang tao. Sa ipinakita ni Melai, mas na-inspire ako. So, kung ano man ang maabot ninyo sa buhay, huwag kayong magbago. Instead, mag-inspire kayo ng ibang mga tao sa pamamagitan ng ugali ninyo sa isa’t isa. ‘Yon talaga ang ipinakita ni Melai sa akin.”</p><p>The episode capped off with Chito sharing that his favorite Bisaya word is “dasig,” which means “resiliency” or the ability to cope and recover from obstacles in life. He firmly believes that when we have “kadasig” and it is consistent, we will definitely have somewhere to go in life.<br/><br/></p>
