Playing Tomas and Ninong, respectively, the two deliver just the right mix of heart and hilarity, with chemistry so authentic it feels like they&#x27;re not even acting. It was mentioned in one episode that Ninong, who runs a lending business, adopted Tomas from Boys&#x27; Town. They may not be related by blood, but their bond feels deeper than DNA. Their scenes together are packed with humor but underneath it all is a love that’s fiercely loyal. You’ll laugh and warm your heart with every moment they share.Tomas works as the collector for Ninong’s lending business. One time, when an elderly borrower couldn&#x27;t pay, Tomas just let it slide out of pity. To cover it up, he beat himself up so he could tell Ninong he got hurt while doing his job. Ninong joked that he should’ve adopted someone else since Tomas wasn’t helping much. But right after that, he told him to eat first, which felt like his own way of making Tomas feel better. They’re not the type to drop sweet words of affirmation, but it shows in the little things, like that touching moment when Tomas said goodbye before heading off to his first mission with Greg (Ian Veneracion)’s private army. Ninong tried to act tough but was clearly sad. His line, “Basta huwag kang babalik nang nasa ataul, ah!&quot; was his gruff way of telling Tomas to stay safe wherever he was going. Just as Tomas turned his back, Ninong replaced his usual scowl with a smile. Tomas then looked back and walked toward Ninong for a hug. When Tomas returned from his successful mission, the first thing he did with his earnings was to throw a feeding program for the entire barangay. Stunned, Ninong joked that Tomas was outdoing actual politicians, and in the same breath, like any worried parent-figure hiding concern under humor, he reminded him not to be too careless with money because it’s important to save up for the future, especially if he ever plans to settle down with a good woman someday—a thought Tomas clearly isn’t ready to entertain just yet.And because Tomas never forgets where he came from, he handed Ninong his cut from his first pay as a “Kontrak.” He settled more than what was owed to Ninong&#x27;s lending business, before cheekily telling him, &quot;Magtipid ka kasi ikaw &#x27;yung totoong hindi na bumabata.&quot; You know Ninong will always have Tomas’ back, even if he doesn’t say it outright, like in that one scene where Tomas came home frustrated after a contract fell through and the entire team didn’t get paid. Ninong, in full protective mode, said, “Resbakan natin,” which Tomas brushed off with a laugh, saying they’d be no match for his boss and they might just end up getting knocked out together.When Tomas was detained after being falsely accused of working with a thief, Ninong visited him at the precinct and didn’t argue with the harsh comment thrown by a cop who joked that Tomas probably turned out to be a troublemaker because he&#x27;s taken after his Ninong. Instead, he just quietly handed over the food he brought and insisted that Tomas eat. While he couldn’t bail him out just yet, that was the least he could do for him at the moment. But of course, even a sentimental scene like that couldn&#x27;t go by without a ridiculous punchline. When Tomas asked if Ninong happened to have connections with a lawyer or &#x27;abogado,&#x27; Ninong replied that he only knows an &#x27;abogago.&#x27; In the next scene, a stunning woman showed up at the precinct claiming to be Tomas&#x27; lawyer. Ninong, clearly floored, had to ask where on earth Tomas met such a beautiful attorney, completely unaware that it was actually Gab (Maris Racal), Tomas’ fellow “Kontrak,” just pretending. Ninong jestingly asked if this lawyer friend of Tomas had an older version, someone age-appropriate he could meet, which led to Tomas promising that he’ll find Ninong a woman, too, once he&#x27;s out of jail. Tomas may not have been able to tell Ninong directly that he played a big part in stopping a crime recently reported on national TV, but deep down, he knew his Ninong would’ve been proud anyway, after hearing him casually comment that he hopes the people helping the police keep doing what they&#x27;re doing. Tomas could only smile quietly, knowing he was one of them.And since Ninong was the only father figure Tomas ever had, of course, Tomas would return that love in his own way. When he ran into Ninong looking all panicked and in a hurry to disappear over a case filed against him for an investment scam he unintentionally got tangled in, Tomas, clearly concerned, promised to take care of whatever needed to be paid off just to help Ninong get out of trouble. But in the meantime, he ordered him—like a son scolding a mischievous dad—to go into hiding first. And right before Ninong dashed off, Tomas called out, asking for a kiss on his Ninong’s shiny bald head. In their hilarious and oddly heartwarming way, that was how Tomas showed he’d never leave Ninong behind.We&#x27;re rooting for these two!
