Jed Madela looks back on his first-ever “ASAP” appearance—and it was not after WCOPA

And among those talented and brilliant personalities to have raised our flag and our “Pinoy Pride” is Jed Madela, who has been part of the “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u><em>ASAP</em></u></strong></a>” family ever since taking home the first-ever World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) title for the Philippines in 2005. </p><p>And this 2025, as he marks another milestone in his personal and professional life, which is his 20th year both on “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u><em>ASAP</em></u></strong></a>” and in showbiz, he’s also among the stars who have partaken in the year-long 30th anniversary celebration of the all-star Sunday afternoon party by enthusiastically reminiscing about some of his fondest memories on the show, as well as expressing his gratitude for everything that it has done for him through the years via this video.</p><div><br/></div><div><iframe class="instagram-media instagram-media-rendered" id="instagram-embed-0" src="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DK1GgvwIf9R/embed/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=620&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fod2-workbench-web.abs-cbn.com&amp;rp=%2F#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A19410742.400000006%7D" allowtransparency="true" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="826" data-instgrm-payload-id="instagram-media-payload-0" scrolling="no" style="background:white;max-width:540px;width:calc(100% - 2px);border-radius:3px;border:1px solid rgb(219, 219, 219);box-shadow:none;display:block;margin:0px 0px 12px;min-width:326px;padding:0px"></iframe></div><script async="" src="//www.instagram.com/embed.js"></script><div><br/></div><p>The proud “ASAP” Batch 2005 artist began by conveying, “Thank you sa ‘ASAP’ dahil mas narinig ang boses ko hindi lang dito sa Pilipinas kundi sa buong mundo, at nagkaroon ako ng pamilya.”</p><p>Just when many have probably assumed that the first time he set foot on the “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u><em>ASAP</em></u></strong></a>” stage was after his glorious stint in WCOPA, Jed divulged that he actually already appeared on the program prior to that. He was still part of a band at the time, and they were given the opportunity to perform, which was truly a wonderful and memorable experience for him since he got to see the artists and hosts. That enkindled his dream of making it on “ASAP,” which eventually came true in 2005 when he was welcomed as part of the ASAP Champions. </p><p>With regard to his unforgettable memories on the show, Jed disclosed that it would be the annual “ASAP That’s Christmas,” an occasional special segment wherein the hosts and performers on “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u><em>ASAP</em></u></strong></a>” are divided into groups to perform a special Christmas presentation. It was among his favorite memories since he fondly recalled how they would be completely dedicated to their performances, as well as how the groups he belonged to usually won. Besides, it also delights him how the segment would bring out or showcase different sides of them that the public usually doesn’t see. </p><p>He also mentioned his off-cam kulitan, tawanan, and kuwentuhan moments with his fellow artists, which have tightened their bond not just as colleagues but as brothers and sisters as well.</p><p>“Sa lahat ng bumubuo ng ‘ASAP’ family—past, present, and future—thank you very much. Thank you very much for accepting us with open arms, for being a family to us, for always being there for us, and for always just giving us good memories. And, of course, wish ko, more years to come, more artists to give opportunities to, and madami pang sorpresang mabibigay sa lahat ng mga Kapamilya natin na sumusuporta sa ‘ASAP.’ Kaya ‘ASAP,’ happy, happy 30th anniversary,” Jed said to cap off his video greeting for “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u><em>ASAP</em></u></strong></a>.”</p>
