A month after Star Music released her first-ever debut solo single, “Stay,” fast-rising ABS-CBN artist Carmelle Collado finally got to perform it on the “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/asap">ASAP</a>” stage on its April 12 episode. Those who were already present in the early 2000s may remember that the song was originally performed by Carol Banawa, a beloved Kapamilya singer-actress known for her clear, soothing voice and emotionally resonant ballads that have become part of many Filipinos’ lives through the years. While Carmelle delivers the track with a more powerful vocal approach, she’s still able to preserve its emotional core—evoking nostalgia, longing, sincerity, and warmth—as it conveys the singer’s vulnerability and gentle plea for a loved one to stay as he/she struggles to move on and forget all their shared memories.
