Family or duty? The “Blood vs Duty” cast dives deep into the dilemma

<p>Based on the title given to the show itself, “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/blood-vs-duty" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><em><u>Blood vs Duty</u></em></strong></a>” follows a challenging story line filled with characters dealing with the complexities of making the decision between their families and duties. In this exclusive interview, the members of the cast readily reflect on the previously mentioned dilemma, considering their personal identities or their respective characters.</p><p>Starting with Gerald Anderson, better known as the altruistic Jalil Abubakar in the series, he wisely chose duty to his loved ones. “Special case ‘yung kay Jalil kasi [siya] ay isang community leader sa probinsya. So, kasama rin ‘yung pamilya niya sa community and ‘yung tungkulin niya ay protektahan ‘yung community,” he elaborated.  </p><div> </div><div><script data-wid="auto" type="text/javascript" src="https://content.viralize.tv/display/?zid=AAFz8gWM8iRADsJr&amp;cid=AB-tx4PdwhV7PKSq"></script></div><div> </div><p>As long as he is portraying Felix Domingo, Baron Geisler did not hesitate to prove himself a loyal soldier for General Carillo (Bodjie Pascua), knowing that he would do anything in his power to fulfill his duties.  </p><p>Assuming his fictional persona as Datu Rahman, Jaime Fabregas answered in the same manner as Gerald, picking duty to his own family. A bit different, Rommel Padilla, who perfectly captured the character of Director Emil Azuelo of the Special Investigations Division (SID), made the choice to perform his duties. </p><p>“Ang talagang binigyan niya [as Director Azuelo] ng bigat [ay] ‘yung sa tungkulin niya. Parang naging pangalawa na lang ‘yung kanyang pamilya,” Rommel explained. </p><p>For the very first batch of Task Force Alpha, Elmo Magalona and Junjun Quintana gave logical responses. As Agent Harold Rustia, Elmo felt more connected to his duty, particularly since his character nearly perished at Isla Damai for the sake of the mission. </p><p>On the other hand, Junjun balanced the two options. “For me, walang nabubuhay para sa sarili lamang. So, kung kailangan natin maglingkod sa trabaho natin… Hindi lang sa family, as we move forward with our lives,” he shared. </p><p>LA Santos and River Joseph favored their families, while Lou Yanong presented a creative justification for selecting her duty. “Personally, ‘yung tungkulin ko na sa buhay ay ‘yung aking pamilya… Kaya ako nasa industriya, kaya ako lumalaban araw-araw, para sa mommy ko,” LA stated.</p><p>In keeping with her role as Agent Eve Castillo, Lou commented, “At the same time, ‘pag inuuna mo ‘yung tungkulin mo, inuuna mo na rin ang pamilya mo.” </p><p>Serving as SID’s leading IT operator, Ace Carrera, as Buster Hilario, readily stepped into his duty. “Minsan hindi lahat ng kapamilya natin ay gumagawa ng tama… [Kung] tungkulin gumawa ng mabuti sa kapwa in general, mas pipiiliin [ko] ‘yun,” he asserted.  </p><p>As for Binsoy Namoca, family is his top priority. Much like Binsoy, Raul Montesa made a personal decision that was best for his family.  </p><p>“If you don’t choose your family, then who are you at the end?” Raul pondered.  </p><p>Will their characters make the same decision between their families or duties?
