<p>If someone were to choose one of the most empowering characters in “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/blood-vs-duty" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Blood vs Duty</strong></a>,” Jalil Abubakar (Gerald Anderson) would certainly be placed at the top of the list. While teaching them self-defense skills and military tactics, especially when faced with inhumane enemies, Jalil places importance on only engaging in combat when necessary and opting for peaceful talks.  </p><div> </div><div><strong>Jalil leaves Barangay Surga to protect the residents </strong></div><p>At the time when Jalil was trying to find his adoptive father, Datu Rahman (Jaime Fabregas), who had been abducted numerous times as per the plans of General Carillo (Bodjie Pascua) and Lara (Bela Padilla), he had been fatally shot at Dapayan Warehouse and was recovering in Barangay Surga.  </p><p>Felix (Baron Geisler), the accomplice of Lara and General Carillo, attempted to infiltrate Barangay Surga in pursuit of Jalil. Reflecting on the tragic event at Isla Damai, which claimed the lives of many innocent people, Jalil understood that his presence would only heighten the dangers. He ultimately made the selfless decision to leave, even with his sister Jamilah’s (Barbie Imperial) refusal.  </p><div> </div><div><strong>Marcus and Jalil thank one another after rescuing Jamilah and Teresa </strong></div><p>Soon after meeting the Presidential Chief of Staff Ahmad Mustapha (Robin Padilla), Jalil was given the opportunity to assume the fabricated identity of Major Allan Espina, which would enable him to dig into the truth behind the Isla Damai massacre and eventually deliver justice to the slain citizens of his Tausug community.  </p><p>While completing one of his missions with Task Force Alpha at S. Trinidad Hospital, where they needed to rescue Jamilah and Teresa (Susan Africa) from being taken hostage by Metal 13’s leaders Axl (Marc Abaya) and Jovi (Joem Bascon), Jalil made every effort to keep his fears under control regarding his sister’s safety.  </p><p>Even though Marcus and Jalil (as Major Allan) clashed several times before reaching this point, they finally chose to show their appreciation for each other, with Marcus acknowledging the fact that Jalil helped save his mother, Teresa.  </p><div> </div><div><strong>Jalil prays for justice to prevail  </strong></div><p>Despite the hardships he is experiencing, Jalil devotes time to praying, expressing gratitude to Allah for Jamilah’s safety. As much as he’s aware of how powerful his foes are, he still holds the belief that justice will always triumph and that Allah’s guidance will lead him to completely reclaim the life of peace with his family and community. </p><div> </div><div><strong>Datu Rahman learns of Jalil’s undercover mission as Major Allan  </strong></div><p>Several rescue attempts later, Jalil manages to retrieve Datu Rahman for good, locating him in one of the trailers within the vast container yard where Lara’s henchmen locked him up.  </p><p>Shortly after reaching a safe distance away from the danger zone, Datu Rahman questioned Jalil about his role as Major Allan, and he responded by stating that it was crucial for him to become part of NLEA to track down the Datu and figure out the truth of the Isla Damai massacre.  </p><p>In spite of Datu Rahman’s pleas for them to travel far away to protect themselves, Jalil made it clear that they will go back to their normal lives on the island and that he will cleanse the Datu’s reputation. For Jalil, the island as well as its residents should be safeguarded in all circumstances, especially as that was the place he formed his sense of self and found his family.  </p><div> </div><div><strong>Jalil entrusts Datu Rahman’s safety to Jamilah, Omar, and Norhana </strong></div><p>Right after fulfilling his purpose of rescuing Datu Rahman from his kidnappers, Jalil made the choice to continue his secret mission as Major Allan, considering that the Datu’s abduction was much more than what it appeared to be.  </p><p>Jalil then said his goodbyes all over again to Omar (Edgar Mortiz), Norhana (Malou Crisologo), and Jamilah, and the Datu’s safety will be in their hands while he keeps his promise to unearth the truth.  </p><div> </div><div><strong>Jalil approves of Ramli’s decision to help Harold  </strong></div><p>Given that Datu Rahman’s protection was already guaranteed, Jalil briefly returned to Isla Damai to check on the community’s present circumstances. That was when he taught them about self-defense techniques, which made it possible to terrify the armed men dispatched by Felix.  </p><p>Following their victory, Ramli (Alex Medina) disclosed how he took care of the shell-shocked Harold (Elmo Magalona), despite the fact that he was a member of Task Force Alpha, the group formed by NLEA’s Special Investigations Division, which the community was enraged with. </p><p>Rather than encouraging hatred, Jalil pointed out that Ramli’s actions reflected exactly how kind they’re supposed to be, even to their enemies who can no longer fight back. Every triumph can also be measured by how strongly they show mercy. </p><div> </div><div><strong>Jalil teaches Sitti about kindness </strong></div><p>When Jalil went back to Manila, he brought the orphaned Sitti (Zia Grace Bataan) with him, who was eager to reunite with Jamilah. As he dropped her off at Barangay Surga, he made sure that she understood the worth of being tough and compassionate, no matter the circumstances.  </p><div> </div><div><strong>Lara listens to Jalil’s encouraging words  </strong></div><p>A few days before the Miraikona Economic Summit, where the Japanese investment deal with the Philippines occurred, albeit with tragic consequences, Lara and Jalil (as Major Allan) were assigned to work together in patrolling areas nearby.  </p><p>Regardless of Lara’s complaints about the buddy system, Allan did not hesitate to offer comforting words towards her, especially with regard to Lara’s fear of being perceived as weak.
