Krystal Mejes reflects on life, letting go, and finding grace through heartbreak

<p>From childhood crushes to deeper realizations about love and letting go, “<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/pinoy-big-brother-collab-v2" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab 2.0</strong></a>” Kapamilya 2nd Big Placer Krystal Mejes has learned to carry every pain with grace, turn scars into memories, and find strength in choosing to love anyway. She shared these reflections in this episode of “Push It.” </p><p> Krystal admits that her personality shifts whenever she starts to admire someone. She describes herself as a little “delusional,” often keeping her feelings to herself instead of letting the person know how she feels. </p><p>As a child, Krystal saw love as nothing but pure happiness—all rainbows and butterflies. But as she grew older, she realized that love isn’t just about the feeling; it also takes effort and a conscious choice, one that remains beautiful in its simplicity.</p><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="913" height="543" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GaXhTC_u0MQ" title="Why Krystal Mejes believes love is a daily choice | PUSH IT" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><p>That shift came through experience, learning from others, and considering different perspectives—not only in romance but in life as a whole. Despite the good and bad lessons she has encountered, Krystal has remained positive, saying, “I don&#x27;t think we should make it complicated. Love is not intricate, it&#x27;s not complex, it&#x27;s just beautiful and it should really just be simple.”</p><p>When asked when she realized that love isn’t always enough, Krystal shared, “You wake up with this beautiful feeling, yet you still have to choose to love the person anyway. Despite all their imperfections and flaws. That’s when love becomes a choice.”</p><p>That realization also deepened her perspective on falling in love. It made her realize that she has so much love to give—enough to appreciate people and moments in their entirety. For Krystal, loving and being loved is nothing short of a blessing.</p><p>Krystal recalled experiencing her first heartbreak at six years old, when she lost her dog, Aika. That pain became one of the experiences that shaped her, followed by more challenges that changed her along the way. “There’s going to be more heartbreaks in the future, and that’s going to be my fuel to become the person I’m becoming,” she quipped.</p><p>Reflecting on what she learned from letting someone go, Krystal said it is about making space in your life, heart, mind, and soul for the right things to come. For her, the right time to let go is when holding on starts to disrupt your peace and no longer does you any good.</p><p>For the Kapamilya star, the lessons she gained from heartbreak are just as meaningful as those she could draw from happiness. “If I look at it five years from now in the future, I would actually be happy that I&#x27;d gone through a heartbreak,” she said.</p><p>Krystal reflected that every pain comes with a lesson. “When there&#x27;s something going on in my life, I always ask myself, ‘What lesson is this teaching me? What lesson am I gonna get from this?’ So I think it&#x27;s just important to seek the lesson first. Stop questioning why it&#x27;s happening. Be grateful that it&#x27;s happening for you,” she remarked.</p><p>Lastly, when asked which is harder—accepting things or moving on—Krystal said that moving on feels easier because the toughest part is acceptance. “It’s easier to move on once you’ve accepted things in your life and once you practice acceptance,” she explained.
