“I made it!”: Jas Dudley-Scales opens up about the moments that make her feel "sumakses sa life”

<p>Despite her mesmerizing beauty, unmistakable charm, and admirable personality, Jasmine Dudley-Scales—simply known as Jas—still earned bashers during her stint as one of the housemates of &quot;<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/pbbgen112024" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u><em>Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11</em></u></strong></a>,&quot; making her one of the most controversial among her batch.  </p><p>Two years since their season ended, the &quot;Optimistic Ate ng Dumaguete&quot; talked about how life has been for her after going back to the outside world, as well as imparted her own definition of &quot;sumakses sa life,&quot; during her guesting in the latest episode of ABS-CBN Studios online vodcast &quot;Hello Outside World&quot; alongside batchmate and 4th Big Placer <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/2026/8/21/kai-montinola-on-defining-success-and-handling-the-hate-0109" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>Kai Montinola</u></strong></a>. </p><div><br/></div><div><iframe width="916" height="543" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VKWWP7ubnhU?si=Wne_0WZgWUFuvbxe" title="YouTube video player" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><div><br/></div><p>Their lighthearted and insightful conversation with hosts Bianca Gonzalez and Esnyr Ranollo commenced with a little kumustahan, where the two gorgeous guests described how their first two years in showbiz had been. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>On her life after PBB, dealing with bashers </strong></div><p>For Jas, two years may seem long because a lot of things have happened in her life after PBB, but she realizes that it&#x27;s still a short journey. She expounded, &quot;Ang daming nangyari, ang daming blessings coming in, ang daming lessons and learnings din. It&#x27;s such a humbling experience but, at the same time, when I look back, parang, wow, I was just once auditioning and ito na &#x27;yong life ko ngayon.&quot; </p><p>When Bianca asked how crazy it is to think about how different her life was back then compared to now, she admitted that the craziest part is becoming a public figure. Although she is well aware that it comes with the job and that she signed up for it, there are times when it becomes overwhelming, especially when people meddle in her life and judge her as if they own her. </p><p>Nonetheless, Jas loves her profession and is grateful to be where she is now, as she continues to learn so much from people who have already come a long way in both life and showbiz. Among them is multifaceted and seasoned artist Vhong Navarro, her co-host on an online game show, whom she is especially grateful to have as a mentor.</p><p>Jas was among the highly talked about housemates of their batch due to her special bond with some of her companions, particularly JM Ibarra and Dylan Yturralde, as well as to her spicy statement against eventual Big Winner Fyang Smith during their intense rap battle, which seemingly turned her into a &quot;public enemy.&quot; </p><p>According to her, she had already come to terms with it and didn&#x27;t really mind the bashing she received after returning to the outside world following her eviction, as she knew herself and what had truly happened. Besides, she chose to put her trust only in the people around her, including her family and friends. </p><p>However, it was her mom who was deeply affected by the backlash. Aside from the snide remarks, their family also received numerous death threats—something Jas was unaware of at the time because she was still inside Bahay ni Kuya. She related, &quot;Siguro, the hardest part lang for me is realizing how my family and my closest friends felt during the time na nasa loob.&quot; </p><p>This prompted host Bianca to share that the PBB hosts had been reminding viewers and fans that the housemates are still humans. Therefore, they must be mindful of everything they say because, while the housemates may not be able to see the hurtful comments about them in real time, they may eventually come across them—and so can the people who love them. </p><p>&quot;I just trusted God. Sabi ko, &#x27;Okay na &#x27;yon. What&#x27;s done is done, all is well, and then let&#x27;s just move forward. If I have opportunities here, let&#x27;s go.&#x27; And I&#x27;m glad, I did,&quot; she said. </p><p>Meanwhile, when it comes to her funniest encounters with bashers, Jas and Kai both agree that it is whenever bashers create their own narrative around something that happened or something they witnessed for only a few seconds, then strongly impose their own interpretation of it. As an example, Jas cites the viral video clip that captures her brief encounter with her ex-housemate Dylan during a basketball game, which bashers share and make it appear as though they no longer talk to each other. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>On what makes her feel that she&#x27;s already made it in life </strong></div><p>As the episode centers on the theme of “success,” Esnyr quizzes Jas and Kai about the moments in their lives when they realize that they have already “made it.” For Jas, the answer is surprisingly simple: being able to book a flight whenever she feels stressed.  </p><p>Kai immediately agrees, saying Jas is actually a certified &quot;kaladkarin&quot;—or someone who can literally be invited to go anywhere at a moment’s notice—and went on to recall an instance that perfectly captures Jas&#x27; spontaneous lifestyle.  </p><p>According to Kai, there was a day when she called Jas while she was still in Manila, only to find out several hours later that Jas was already in Hong Kong. The following day, when Kai called to ask when they could hang out, Jas casually told her that she was about to head to Palawan. Kai clarifies that she is not complaining about Jas being everywhere, but she&#x27;s rather happy and proud to see her living life to the fullest. </p><p>Their definition of “making it” also extends to the prominent people they meet along the way. In the two years since they returned to the outside world, Jas and Kai have met and worked with numerous big names in showbiz. So, when Bianca asks which celebrity has left them the most starstruck, Jas immediately and lovingly mentions “Papa P,” the endearing nickname of people in and out of showbiz for ultimate Kapamilya heartthrob Piolo Pascual. </p><p>“When I saw Papa P, I was like, ‘I made it! I made it!’” Jas enthuses. She recalls being completely captivated by Piolo, whom she describes as looking like an angel, and admits that her heart skips a beat when she sees him during the ABS-CBN Christmas ID shoot. </p><p>The hosts then tease Jas that she seems to have won not only in life and career but also in love, as seen on social media and her public outings. She cannot help but get simultaneously nervous and kilig when they ask her about the real score between her and fellow PBB alumni Argel Saycon, her loveteam partner and co-star in the iWant microdrama series &quot;<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/studios/tv/2025/12/12/argel-saycon-and-jasmine-dudley-scales-star-in-iwant-s-newest-microdrama-when-brothers-fall-1438" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong><u>When Brothers Fall</u></strong></a>.&quot; </p><p>Jas &#x27;fesses up that having someone like Argel by her side makes navigating life in showbiz much easier. She shares, &quot;I&#x27;m happy because I have someone like him inside showbiz and also outside. So, it&#x27;s not that hard to maneuver everything, lalo na when I went out of the house, because he was tough enough to be with me despite all the bashing kasi nasama rin siya e for a time. And he&#x27;s not scared to speak up for me. Pinaglaban ako ni Argel.&quot;</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>On her advice to people who wish to also experience &quot;sumakses in life&quot; </strong></div><p>When asked what advice she and Kai can give to other people, especially the younger generation, on how they can consider themselves “sumakses sa buhay” or successful in life, Jas emphasizes that success should never be measured against someone else’s achievements. </p><p>&quot;Don&#x27;t be fooled by the success of other people, kasi success is subjective. Whatever success means to you, go with it,&quot; he stated. Then she added, &quot;Huwag mahiya. Like, literally, go to rooms where you even feel like you&#x27;re not welcome. And then if it doesn&#x27;t serve you right, that&#x27;s the time when you can leave.&quot; </p><p>She adds that pursuing success should not come at the expense of simply being human, reminding everyone to remain grounded, responsible, and mindful of others along the way. “Be a human being also, at the same time. At the end of the day, we’re all human beings. We should fight for our rights. We should always take everything responsibly [and] beautifully.” </p><p>Ultimately, Jas encourages everyone to live life to the fullest rather than merely focus on surviving each day. “Just live life because life is meant to be lived. It’s not [only] really meant to survive every day.
