<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2016/nation2/05/17/20160509-halalan-caquino-gc-8945.jpg"/><figcaption><div class="embed-desc">Residents cast their votes in Quezon City during the May 9 general elections. <em>Gigie Cruz, ABS-CBN News</em></div></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA - The National Citizens&#x27; Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) on Tuesday said the random manual audit (RMA) of 715 clustered precincts has been completed.</p><p>Of this number, 130 clustered precincts or 18 percent registered variances exceeding 10 votes.</p><p>The ballots from these precincts were sent to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) headquarters in Manila for verification and possible root cause analysis.</p><p>NAMFREL national council member Telibert Laoc said the variances could be caused by differences in appreciation of shades in the oval between the machine and the Board of Election Inspectors.</p><p>If after the verification process, variances per precinct still exceed 10, they will be subjected to a root cause analysis.</p><p>NAMFREL expects to issue a preliminary report on the RMA within the week.</p><p>Laoc said the RMA aims to test the accuracy of the vote counting machines in reading ballots.</p>
