<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en">Ating Guro Partylist demands allocation of one congressional seat from Comelec <a href="https://t.co/AZ0zgsYr8c">pic.twitter.com/AZ0zgsYr8c</a>— Pia Gutierrez (@pia_gutierrez) <a href="https://twitter.com/pia_gutierrez/status/734590441446866946">May 23, 2016</a></blockquote><script async="" src="~//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charSet="utf-8" type="text/javascript"></script>MANILA - Members of Ating Guro are asking the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to allocate one of 59 seats in Congress for party-list groups to their party.This, after the Comelec en banc, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), allegedly committed a mistake in their computation to allocate the seats to party-list groups.The group alleged that based on the formula prescribed by the Supreme Court in the Banat vs Comelec case, Ating Guro was supposed to get the 59th seat.Ating Guro was able to garner 237,565 or 0.7337 percent of the total vote.They noted that during the proclamation of winning party-list groups last May 19, Ating Guro was included in the winning party-list groups in the draft canvass report of the NBOC, which was identical with the final tally sheet that was used as the basis for proclamation.&quot;And suddenly, during the actual proclamation, around past 7 p.m., Comelec gave two seats for COOP NATCCO which finally removed Ang Guro from the winning circle,&quot; the petition read.&quot;The party claims that on the prescribed computation, COOP NATCCO is entitled to only one guaranteed seat and no additional seat based on the prevailing computation and system of seat allocation prescribed by the Comelec in 2009.&quot;On Monday, the group filed a petition to correct the error by allocating only one guaranteed seat to COOP NATCCO and allocating the remaining 35 seats in favor of the parties next in rank to it, beginning with Akbayan up to Ating Guro, and to proclaim Ating Guro as one of the winners in the party-list election.
