MANILA — Seventeen years after its TV conclusion, the well-loved youth-oriented series “Tabing Ilog” is returning as a stage musical, with a fresh cast bringing to life the same “barkada” from the original.
On Thursday, ABS-CBN introduced the cast members of its 2020 retelling of “Tabing Ilog,” ranging from successful Star Hunt auditionees, experienced theater actors, reality show graduates, to girl group members.
Here’s a look at each of them, and the characters they’re portraying:
Kiara Takahasi, Abi Kassem, and Gab Pangilinan (not in photo) will alternate in the role of Eds, originally portrayed by Kaye Abad. Michael Bagtas, ABS-CBN News
Hanie Jarar, Sky Quizon, and Ian Pangilinan will alternate as Rovic, originally played by John Lloyd Cruz. Michael Bagtas, ABS-CBN News
Batit Espiritu and Emjay Sevilla will aternate in the role of Badong, originally portrayed by Paolo Contis. Michael Bagtas, ABS-CBN News

The creative team behind “Tabing Ilog: The Musical” includes Topper Fabregas (direction), Vincent de Jesus (music, lyrics), Jade Castro (book), JM Cabling (choreography), Riza Romero (production design), Meliton Roxas (lighting design), and Glendfford Malimban (sound design).

The play will start its run in March 2020 at ABS-CBN’s Dolphy Theater. Tickets are available via KTX.
