<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2018/life/05/02/jail1.jpg?ext=.jpg"/><figcaption>The Iloilo Provincial Jail was built in 1911.</figcaption></figure></div><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2018/life/05/02/jail2.jpg?ext=.jpg"/><figcaption>The newly renovated Iloilo Provincial Jail has been turned into a museum.<em> ABS-CBN News</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>The Iloilo Provincial Jail has undergone a multi-million makeover and will now serve as a museum.</p><p>The provincial government spent P20 million for retrofitting while the National Museum of the Philippines funded the restoration of P80 million.</p><p>The jail was built in 1911 and was a prominent landmark in the province during the World War II. </p><p>It will now serve as a regional museum and will house regional artifacts. </p><p>It has 5 galleries in the lower ground area and an open gallery on the second floor. </p><p>The national museum said it will bring back to Iloilo &quot;the golden mask of Oton&quot; that was excavated in the town of Oton during 1960s.</p><p>Fossils believed to be of elephants excavated in the town of Cabatuan will also be brought here from the national archive.</p>
