MANILA – Filipino-American model Kelsey Merritt revealed that she was cast twice by Victoria’s Secret before she finally got the chance to work with the iconic lingerie brand.

“The first was a regular casting – they took Polaroids of me in lingerie. Then I got a callback the day after. For the callback, they asked me to go on set with Victoria’s Secret and do like a trial shoot with their whole team,” she said.

“I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t believe it,” she added. “I’ve been modeling for almost six years now and this has been a goal of mine from the start. The competition is so tough here in New York. I could only dream of working with VS.”

When asked how she prepared for the shoot, the Fil-Am model replied: “I have been working out a lot prior to the shoot. I try to go to the gym almost every day. I love going to pilates, and [seeing] my personal trainer at my gym, The Dogpound.”

Merritt hopes that her first stint with Victoria’s Secret will bring her a step closer to becoming an “angel” – or a special model for the brand – alongside top models like Gisele Bundchen, Adriana Lima, and Alessandra Ambrosio.

Merritt is not the only Filipina who got the chance to work with Victoria’s Secret. In 2016, Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up Janine Tugonon was featured in the advertisement of Victoria’s Secret Pink, which is targeted at younger women.
