<p>MANILA — Darna, Captain Barbell, and Lastikman are poised to showcase their superpowers to a new generation of pop culture fans with the introduction of the Ravelo Komiks Universe.</p><div><script src="https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v2.5" async="" type="text/javascript"></script></div><div class="fb-post" data-href="https://www.facebook.com/ravelokomiksuniverse/videos/854400304939017" data-width="auto"> </div><p>The ABS-CBN title is the first Filipino comics superheroes brand based on the creations of comics legend Mars Ravelo.</p><p>Ravelo Komiks Universe released on Wednesday gives a closer look at the latest animated iterations of Darna, Captain Barbell, and Lastikman — arguably the most popular of Ravelo’s characters, alongside the mermaid Dyesebel.</p><p>The triumvirate, clad in their iconic costumes, are each introduced with details of the alter ego, source of power, and abilities.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/life/07/04/20190704-darna.jpg"/><figcaption>A new statuette of Darna by Halimaw Sculptures is put on display at the recent 2019 ToyCon. <em>ABS-CBN</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>Ravelo Komiks Universe recently made a splash at ToyCon 2019, where new statuettes, collectible figures, card games, and other merchandise based on the characters were put on display. A Funko Pop variant inspired by Darna was also announced during the event.</p><p>Aside from a <a href="https://store.abs-cbn.com/kapamilya-brands/mars-ravelo">wide range of merchandise</a>, Ravelo Komiks Universe is also available as a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/XelebRaveloKomiks/">puzzle game app</a> where the superheroes face off against the villain Valentina and her forces.</p><p>Darna, meanwhile, is set to fly on the big screen with the upcoming Star Cinema movie under the direction of Jerrold Tarog.</p>
