Miss World congratulates Catriona Gray on Miss Universe win

<p>MANILA – Even the Miss World Organization showed its support for Catriona Gray, who was crowned Miss Universe 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday.</p><p>Before competing in Miss Universe, Gray joined Miss World in 2016 and finished in the Top 5.</p><p>“Well done, Catriona!” the Miss World Organization said in a Facebook post. “Congratulations from all of us at Miss World to Catriona Gray on being elected Miss Universe 2018!”</p><p>“Catriona was a Miss World Top 5 finalist and Beauty with a Purpose Winner in Miss World 2016, and we are delighted to see her win the Miss Universe crown! Catriona’s brilliant Smokey Mountain Beauty with a Purpose project captured all our hearts as it revealed her dedicated vision to support the most vulnerable in our society,” it added.</p><p>Addressing the Miss Universe Organization, the Miss World Organization said: “You have a great winner!”</p><script src="https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v2.5" async="" type="text/javascript"></script><div class="fb-post" data-href="https://www.facebook.com/MissWorld/photos/a.10151130798914974/10157064005069974" data-width="auto"> </div><p>Gray is now the Philippines’ fourth Miss Universe winner, after Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margie Moran (1973), and Gloria Diaz (1969).</p><p>Only one Filipina has been crowned Miss World -- Megan Young, who competed in 2013.</p>
