Chicken inasal ranks first in TasteAtlas list of Top 100 Filipino dishes

Bacolod set a record for longest chicken inasal grilling back in 2023. Handout/File Move over, lechon, sinigang, and lumpiang shanghai: chicken inasal has been hailed as the best Filipino dish in the country based on TasteAtlas food rankings. 

The food website has released its "Top 100 Filipino Foods" list, which is based on over 3,800 ratings from its users. 

Inasal, which originated in Bacolod, is grilled chicken marinated in vinegar and aromatics and brushed with annatto-infused oil. It ranked first in the TasteAtlas list with a score of 4.5. 

At second place is lechon or whole roasted pig, followed by leche flan, a Filipino custard dessert. 

Also part of the list are familiar favorites like the bulalo or beef shank soup, lumpiang Shanghai or deep-fried spring rolls, and sinigang na baboy, a sour soup with pork and vegetables. (Check out the full list here.)

Back in October 2022, inasal ranked fifth in TasteAtlas' list of best chicken dishes in the world. 

Topping the list at the time is Peru's pollo a la brasa, followed by India's butter chicken and tikka.
