Handout </div>A business process solutions provider in the Philippines has conducted a survey of its employees to better understand gender bias experiences of its Filipina community.Telus International Philippines (TIP) recently released the results of its survey, which covers 3,500 team members from its 10 sites in the country, in an event titled &quot;Tama na, 2024 na&quot; as part of its Women&#x27;s Month celebrations.Nearly half of the respondents who identified as women (46%) said they continue to experience unwelcome questions about their looks and relationship status, such as why they are not yet married or dating.A whopping 67% of respondents, on the other hand, said they have received comments about their appearance, particularly their weight.Surprisingly, most of the respondents consider the office as the safest place from unsolicited questions and comments for women as these were asked mostly by friends (72%), relatives (66%), and immediate family members (50%). Only a few said workplace leaders and teammates are sources of these questions at 4% and 11%, respectively. &quot;We proactively make room for these important discussions around women, addressing pressing concerns with empathy, respect, and support for every woman&#x27;s unique journey,&quot; said TIP country vice president Anne Muñoz. &quot;We must break free from these suffocating norms and collectively cultivate an inclusive culture.&quot;During its &quot;Tama Na, 2024 na&quot; event, TIP also invited inspiring modern Filipinas to share their stories of body positivity and breaking free from societal expectations. Among them are curve model Mia Franz-Gelicka and content creator Grace &quot;Tita G&quot; Co.Other survey findings include: * The respondents themselves (<span id="isPasted" style="color:rgb(65, 65, 65);letter-spacing:normal;orphans:2;text-align:left;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255);text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-color:initial;display:inline !important;float:none">74% of those who identified as women, 78% of those who identified as male, and 87% of those who refused to identify as male or female) have admitted to asking &quot;unwelcome&quot; questions to other women* The respondents said such remarks and questions have negatively impacted their self-esteem (51%), interactions with others (38%), and decisions about their future (24%)* The respondents said these remarks that reflect societal pressures on women are mainly influenced by factors like local culture or traditions (75%), family upbringing (71%), and media (41%)
