<div> <img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17245098163771724509834404.jpeg" class="fr-fic fr-dib" alt="Mutya ng Piliipinas"/></div>The stage is set for the 56th edition of Mutya ng Pilipinas as 31 official candidates prepare to vie for nine prestigious titles. The media event held on Saturday, August 24 at a hotel in Makati City offered a first look at the contestants who showcased their charm and poise in pink swimsuits.Cory Quirino, president of Mutya ng Pilipinas, emphasized the criteria that the judges will consider. She said that apart from physical beauty, they are also looking for intelligence and heart in the candidates which is crucial for candidates to display genuine passion and connection when they speak.“Siyempre dapat hindi lang maganda kundi matalino at siyempre [dapat] nararamdaman mo at nakikita mo ang kanyang puso kapag nagsasalita siya,” said Quirino.She also stressed the pageant’s tradition of including representatives from Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) communities worldwide. “Yung tradition sa &#x27;min sa Mutya ng Pilipinas ay magkaroon ng representasyon galing sa OFW communities all over the world. ‘Yan po ang aming layunin na all Filipinas are united.”Candidates from various regions and countries shared their excitement and aspirations. Arianna Pantaleon, representing Canada, expressed her gratitude for the support she has received. “I feel so amazing. I’m so, so thankful to be able to come from Canada to the Philippines and have such [an] amazing support system.”Clare Alexandra Azanes from Camarines Sur also conveyed her appreciation for the experience. “I’m feeling very grateful for this experience, for this award, and I’m thankful [for] my co-candidates and the organization,” Azanes noted.Felicia Aldana from Las Pinas shared her thoughts on participating in her first pageant, sharing her insight on the preparations. “It was very stressful, very tiring, but very fulfilling,” Aldana said.The coronation night for Mutya ng Pilipinas 2024 will take place on September 6, 2024, at the FilOil Arena in San Juan. Fans and supporters are invited to attend and cheer on the candidates as they compete for the coveted titles.
