Ten years after being pulled out of the App Store and Google Play Store, classic mobile game Flappy Bird will return.

Flappy Bird will return as an expanded version that will also be available on the web by the end of October after a fan group named Flappy Bird Foundation acquired the rights to the original game and character. The game also featured a snippet from ABS-CBN's former evening newscast Bandila.

It will return to mobile platforms in 2025, according to a report by IGN.

The remade game, however, received mixed opinion on social media, particularly on X/Twitter for its new ownership's alleged connections with cryptocurrency and an apparent intention to "use the fans nostalgia for the game to sell NFTs," according to a Community Note on the social media platform.

Created by Dong Nguyen, the game became a massive hit in 2013 but was taken down a year later after Nguyen felt overwhelmed by its popularity and success.

Nguyen has also avoided the limelight after the game was pulled out, and netizens believe that the new ownership waited for the game's trademark to end before the acquisition.
