MANILA -- Here are some events that are happening this weekend.

DTI Food Festival 2025

Handout

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is holding a three-day showcase that celebrates Filipino gastronomy as well as local businesses.

Happening from May 30 to June 1 at Megatrade Halls 1 to 3 of SM Megamall, Food Festival 2025 will spotlight over 250 micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) exhibitors from across the country.

Visitors can expect a showcase of heritage-inspired food products from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao through curated exhibits, live cooking demonstrations, and the Kayumanggi Philippine heritage recipe book.

Another feature of the event is a dedicated digital collaboration zone with technology partners, providing access to tools for e-commerce, logistics, digital payments, and marketing.

Food Festival 2025 also marks the launch of the DTI Malikhaing Pinoy website, which aims to connect Filipino MSMEs with a wider market.

It offers a directory of creative industry organizations, access to formal and informal learning opportunities such as workshops and seminars, and a channel to funding programs from government and private sectors.

Hogs Festival 2025

The National Federation of Hog Farmers bring back their Guiness Book of World Records breaking snout-to-tail celebration of pork at the Araneta Center.

Featured during the weekend are two culinary star-studded events: the Chefs vs. Queens Cooking Showdown at 11 a.m. on May 31 at the Quantum Skyview of Gateway Mall 2, and the Fiesta Degustacion with dishes prepared by celebrity chefs later that evening at Novotel Araneta Center.

Poutine and creampuffs

Jonas Ng opens the James & Daughters kitchen for enterprising young men to make Canada's favorite french fries and gravy dish. This was a pitch by Ng's culinary elective class students that the restaurateur helped along to turn into a reality, if only for a weekend. On the menu are poutine with different toppings, and creampuffs for dessert.

'The collaboration between Maison Canada James and Daughters will last the entire weekend, May 31 until June 1, starting service at 2 p.m. and ending at 7 p.m. Visit @maisoncanada.ph or @jamesanddaughters for more information and reservations.
