Gajah Gallery hosts Filipino group exhibit in Yogyakarta

YOGYAKARTA, Indonesia – An all-Filipino team of artists is currently being featured in Yogyakarta, the center of arts in Indonesia.

Gajah Gallery is holding an art exhibition entitled "Libang / Hibang" featuring nine artists from the Philippines, namely: Alfredo Esquillo, Charlie Co, Elmer Borlongan, Joy Mallari, Leslie de Chavez, Manny Garibay, Mark Justiniani, Plet Bolipata, Renato Habulan.

Leslie de Chavez, who curated the "Libang / Hibang," says the focus of the exhibition is attention. Each artist comes out with different degrees of attention in their respective art from painting, film, and installation.

The featured artists all come from different art initiatives in the Philippines, forming TalaAnyo, a collective of art collectives.

Gajah Gallery brought them to Yogyakarta to showcase their pieces ranging from bold and contemporary to those rooted in history. 


"Libang / Hibang" runs until July 13, 2025 in Gajah Gallery, Yogyakarta.
