The activity gave the attendees an opportunity to grasp how these Korean motifs had been reimagined in the modern storytelling.</p><p>Sussie and Derpy were introduced in a late-night scene after knocking over a flowerpot that led to awkward attempts to set the pot back upright. Since then, the duo has won over the hearts, if not the souls, of the viewers.</p><p>They were heavily inspired by &quot;Kkachi Horangi (Magpie-Tiger),&quot; a classic Korean folk art that embodies strength, good fortune, and longevity.</p><p>&quot;We hope they walk away realizing that Korean culture is more than trends—it’s a tapestry of history, belief systems, artistic evolution, and yes, catchy music. Through this event, they’ll catch glimpses of traditional Korean beliefs and the communal spirit that often underpins Korean storytelling, all wrapped in a modern, visually captivating package,&quot; Myeongjin expounded.</p><p>The KCC also launched an online contest inviting fans to channel their favorite film characters through fashion. So, we design programs that show how tradition and innovation coexist in Korea,&quot; Myeongjin said.</p><p>&quot;You might find a fusion performance infused with the dramatic vocal expression of pansori or attend a digital art exhibit that reinterprets traditional Korean motifs like minhwa (folk paintings),&quot; the KCC&#x27;s director added.</p><p>Opened in 2011, the KCC in the Philippines was built with a mission to promote Korea&#x27;s culture, strengthen the country&#x27;s image, and foster cultural exchange.</p><p>Over the years, this mission has expanded into their long-term goal of nurturing a generation that appreciates the similarities and differences between Korea and the Philippines&#x27; cultures.</p><p>The KCC now vows for an exciting and culturally rich second half of the year, to be headlined by its much-anticipated Korean Film Festival.</p><p>A list of activities is expected, including a student short film competition, a Phil-Kor talkback session, and the annual Korean film screening at selected cinemas.</p>
