The audience, however, was not only Filipino. Fans of all backgrounds and from different parts of Texas, including many out-of-towners, flocked to see the world-renowned Tony Award-winning singer.</p><p>The evening felt less like a formal concert and more like a grand community festival. Families arrived with picnic baskets and blankets, sharing food and laughter. The energy was contagious — an atmosphere of joy, pride, and unity.</p><p>&quot;Tonight was a very good event for Houston, for the Filipino community, and for the Philippines. Lea is one of the greatest artists our country has to offer said,&quot; said Consul General Gunther Emil Sales</p><p>On stage, Salonga delivered a magical repertoire that spanned Disney anthems, West End favorites, and Broadway classics, captivating the crowd with her powerful voice and charm. To the delight of her kababayans, she also performed a Tagalog song, creating a deeply emotional moment that resonated across the audience.</p><p>&quot;Lea is not just a Filipino treasure but a Broadway treasure and a Disney treasure. Lea is an icon not just for a musical theater, but for Filipino artistry,&quot; said Vincent Evangelista, a Houston theater actor and performer. </p><p>What stood out most was the spirit of togetherness. For many, the event was more than just a concert — it was a celebration of culture, heritage, and community.
