<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1756807679510543059407_1095667562770665_1581637219120306286_n.jpg" style="width:633px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div>MANILA — Broadcast journalist and documentarian Atom Araullo will launch his debut book, “A View From the Ground,” at the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/lifestyle/2025/8/8/manila-international-book-fair-returns-sept-10-14-1148">Manila International Book Fair </a>on September 14.The launch will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Main Stage on the second floor of the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. A book signing and selling event will follow the program.According to his publisher, University of the Philippines Press, “A View From the Ground” is a collection of narrative journalism pieces drawn from Araullo’s years of field reporting across the Philippines and parts of Southeast Asia. The essays focus on people living on the margins of society and explore themes such as displacement, public health, education, armed conflict and environmental degradation.Each story, reported on the ground and paired with Araullo’s own documentary photographs, highlights the struggles and resilience of ordinary people facing extraordinary challenges. Written with close attention to detail and context, the collection aims to give readers a more visceral understanding of how broader social issues affect individual lives.Born and raised in Manila, Araullo earned a degree in Applied Physics from the University of the Philippines Diliman before pursuing a career in journalism.On his Instagram Stories, Araullo shared the announcement along with a happy, teary-eyed emoji. Araullo is also a Palanca award–winning essayist, having earned first prize in the Essay Category in 2022 for “Letter from Tawi–Tawi.”The Manila International Book Fair, the country’s biggest and longest-running book event, runs September 10–14 at SMX Convention Center.
