While we shape our homes to reflect our needs and desires, they also reveal who we truly are.</p><p>The colors of the couches, the shapes of the tables, the warmth of the lighting, the scale of the beds, and even the scents of the candles all contribute to that personal identity.</p><p>But as soon as the lights and curtains are turned off, they all desire the same thing: peace from the noisy, toxic world.</p><p>For Filipina wellness advocate and entrepreneur Lorren Dianne Ramel-Kriso, home is more than just a place to sleep — it is a refuge, a reflection of faith, and a testament to survival. After years of health struggles, a misdiagnosis, and a life-threatening battle with sepsis, she transformed her near-death experience into purpose, building the Alpaca-Lemon Penthouse in Makati’s Salcedo Village.</p><p>The five-bedroom eco-holistic apartment, now open for staycations and private gatherings, embodies her philosophy of intentional, faith-centered living: toxin-free, nurturing, and designed to promote peace of mind.</p><p>Ramel-Kriso&#x27;s survival story has served as an inspiration to numerous women who follow her on social media, and her current wellness-approved lifestyle is what has made her an encouragement to others.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Near-death experience</strong></div><p>In an emotional interview with ABS-CBN News, Ramel-Kriso, who is married to hotel and resort builder Daniel Kriso, talked about the heartbreaking and depressing experiences she had before building the penthouse.</p><p>“I was admitted to the hospital in 2018 due to a severe ovarian problem. I had a protracted battle with Illness Anxiety Disorder (IAD) as a result of that experience, which left me extremely sensitive to my surroundings. I filtered everything I ate, steam-cleaned cushions and rugs, threw out toxic products, and changed bed linens and towels every day,” she told ABS-CBN News. </p><p>The Pinay entrepreneur went on to describe how she received a false diagnosis in 2023, claiming, “I had an incorrect ovarian cancer diagnosis in 2023 while I was living in Bali. I was first told that I had a life-threatening condition that eventually turned out to be a hormonal imbalance. Even my showers and water had to be managed, which made me even more aware at that point.”</p><p>Doctors told her in 2024 that she had a 50/50 chance of surviving.</p><p>“My immune system failed in 2024 as a result of juggling a lot of stress from work, marriage, friendships, and family. I had sepsis that rapidly progressed to septic shock when I was brought to the intensive care unit in Bali. Doctors told us that my chances of surviving were only 50/50 and that my organs could shut down at any time,” she recalled.</p><p>Reflecting on her near-death experience, she continued, “Daniel, my husband, moved quickly in the situation. He drove me to the hospital in a hurry and remained at my side during every machine and frightening beep. I might not have made it if he hadn&#x27;t taken me so fast. My mother joined me in prayer after flying in from the Philippines. I gave everything to God that night. I pleaded with Him for another opportunity, saying that if I lived, I would devote my life to motivating people by teaching them about faith-centered healing, intentional living, and holistic treatment.”</p><p>The next day, she had her own miracle, which drew her closer to her purpose and faith and inspired her to establish her safe home.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:958px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1758668684820image1 (5).jpeg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner">Lorren Dianne Kriso at her penthouse </span></span></span></div><p>“Against all odds, my blood pressure returned to normal the following day. My strength gradually recovered, and I was discharged within a few days. It was a miracle, and it coincided with the season in which I was developing Alpaca-Lemon Penthouse -- a space that, to me, is more than a business; it is a testament to God&#x27;s grace and second chances,” she stated. </p><p>“This was the exact time I was working on Alpaca-Lemon Penthouse. To me, the Penthouse is more than simply a business; it is a witness, born during the same season in which I almost lost my life, and a visible representation of God&#x27;s grace and second chances,” she added.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Inside Salcedo Village’s Alpaca-Lemon Penthouse<em></em></strong></div><div><br/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1758668756182image22.jpeg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1758668803982image23.jpeg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><br/></div><p>The unit, dubbed an eco-holistic place, was purchased in 2023 after Lorren and Daniel married. “We believe in creating spaces for peace, community, and intentional living,” the two said.</p><p>It reflects healing, faith, and conscious life. The name is derived from two longtime symbols of peace: alpacas, beloved for their softness and grounding presence; and lemons, a superfood recognized for cleansing, brightness, and emotional anchoring.</p><p>“It started as my personal home. Long before it received guests, it served as my own retreat. Every aspect, from linens to air quality, was carefully chosen to promote safety, peace, and calm,” she shared.</p><div><br/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1758668928563image24.jpeg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1758668996142image25.jpeg" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><br/></div><p>Guests are greeted with attentive rituals, handcrafted canapés, organic refreshments, cold towels with essential oils upon arrival, eco-friendly cleaning, and butler-style service. While seeing the huge penthouse every time is therapeutic for her, true healing comes from life and the people who have helped her survive. </p><p>Rates for exclusive usage of the Penthouse, located at One Central Suite in Makati City, start at P39,000 per night.</p><p>“Outsiders may see it as luxury, but for me, it was survival,” stressed the Pinay wellness advocate, who is currently working on a healing cave in Bali called OOMI and has spearheaded creative concepts such as DUXE Manila, KROUZEK PH, FraLo Palazzo Wellness, and NOOV Eco-Hollistic, all of which are based on international living, wellness, and creativity. </p><p>Her husband, on the other hand, is currently developing hotels and resorts in East Bali, which are nearing completion. The resort will shortly open its doors. Following its success, the couple is ready to expand their concept to the Philippines.</p>
