Makati has the polish, BGC has the new openings, Poblacion has the buzz. In my opinion, Quezon City has always had good food, but it is rarely spoken about with the same certainty. Its best places tend to feel more scattered, more neighborhood-driven, more personal.</p><p>That is part of the charm.</p><p>I grew up eating across Toronto and the United States, places that take food seriously not only as pleasure, but as identity. In Toronto especially, a good meal can take you anywhere: Korean barbecue one night, Caribbean the next, Filipino food after that, sushi in between. You learn to look for places shaped by people, not concepts. Small rooms. Owners who care. Ingredients that mean something. Food with a point of view.</p><p>Coming back to Manila, I found myself looking for the same thing. Quezon City, it turns out, has been building exactly that.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>PAT &amp; PAT</strong></div><p>Founded in 2022, Pat &amp; Pat has already built the kind of following that does not come from hype alone. The Mom’s Lasagna— low-cooked meat sauce, béchamel, and a recipe passed down from the family matriarch—reminds you why the word “comfort” ever got attached to food in the first place. Generous without being careless, familiar without feeling ordinary.</p><p>PAT &amp; PAT is located in 5 University Valley, Matandang Balara, Diliman, Quezon City and they&#x27;re open from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM on Thursdays to Saturdays and 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Sundays to Wednesdays. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>MAGDAMAG MARKET CAFE</strong></div><p>On Sgt. Esguerra, Magdamag Market Cafe turns a former preschool into one of the neighborhood’s most character-filled spaces. But some of the best chapters are still being written here: in small rooms, family-run restaurants, and neighborhood spaces shaped by people who have been cooking with care long before anyone called it a movement. </p><p>Quezon City has always had the food.
