Handout</div>Parañaque City has partnered with Kingsford Hotel Manila to help preserve and promote Lauya de Palanyag, making the heritage stew the first officially recognized traditional Parañaque dish to be served on the menu of a hotel in the city.The initiative is part of the city&#x27;s efforts to strengthen culinary tourism by showcasing local food traditions to residents and visitors through the hotel.&quot;Our heritage gives us our identity, but it is through the hospitality of our people and the commitment of our partners that we bring that identity to life for every visitor,&quot; Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez said.Kingsford Hotel Manila general manager Jorold Montelibano said the hotel plans to introduce more traditional Parañaque dishes to its menu as part of its partnership with the city.&quot;This is only the beginning,&quot; Montelibano said. &quot;We plan to introduce even more traditional Parañaqueño dishes to our menu as part of our commitment to promoting the city as a premier culinary destination.&quot;The partnership was formally launched during a preview event attended by Olivarez, his wife Janet Olivarez, and Parañaque City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Cisette Ricardo.<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784087334653DSCF0046.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/>Guests enjoy Lauya de Palanyag during an exclusive culinary showcase. Handout</div>According to the city and the hotel, the collaboration supports efforts to preserve local culinary heritage while encouraging domestic tourism through authentic food experiences and the use of locally sourced ingredients.Lauya de Palanyag traces its origins to the city&#x27;s former identity as Palanyag, when farming and fishing communities supplied ingredients for the slow-cooked stew. Traditionally prepared with beef or pork, cabbage, saba bananas and kutchay, the dish is distinguished by a reddish broth colored with atsuete and lightly sweetened with panutsa. It is a celebration of Parañaque&#x27;s rich culinary heritage and the warmth of Filipino hospitality,&quot; Timban said.To mark the launch, Kingsford Café is offering a 20% discount on orders of Lauya de Palanyag to Parañaque residents and employees who present valid identification. The dish is priced at P700 and is intended for sharing.
